I figured I'd start a topic for UNF since I haven't seen a thread yet and the summer 2018 application dates are coming up soon.
Hello everyone,
I also got an interview for the Summer 2018. My interview time is 11:30 a.m. I have been a student at UNF for the past 2 years and actually interveiwed for the Fall 2017 and was watilisted for the nursing program. Unfortunately, I did not get called off the waitlist so I have been waiting to re-apply for the Summer 2018 cohort. Anyone attending the workshop scheduled for February 25th? I will be there! Excited for everyone and cannot wait for another shot at this!
Here's what I wrote down from the workshop:

Here's what I wrote down from the workshop:Prep advice:
- They couldn't tell us any examples of questions, but they did recommend just looking at common interview questions for nursing schools.
- Know why you want to be a nurse.
- Know your strengths and weaknesses.
- One student recommended that you record yourself answering questions so that you become more aware of the little things you don't realize you do and need to stop doing.
- General consensus was not to reheorifice your answers but to have a good understanding of what you have to offer.
Before interview:
- Make sure to get a parking pass either the day before or the day of. Leave time to get a parking pass.
- When you get there and are divided into interview groups, mingle with the fellow applicants. Learn everyone's names.
- Make sure to be polite, put together, and professional from the time you get out of your car. They said you may run into the students or some of the panelists, and any rude behavior will probably get back to the interviewers.
- Leave your phone in your car.
- You will be fitted for the nursing program polos before the interview.
Actual interview:
- Interviews will be conducted with 3 to 5 applicants and 3 to 4 panelists. Only 3 panelists will be grading your interview.
- Interviews are conducted with everyone sitting at a round table, so you may be sitting next to panelists.
- The interview will last about 45 minutes with four questions.
- Shake the panelists' hands before and after the interview. Work on handshake.
- Work together during the interview and work off one another. (i.e. "I like what Sarah said about patient care. For me...") Don't treat the others like competition. UNF likes to see teamwork.
- Don't answer every question first, but don't answer them all last.
- Be aware of rambling. Don't take too much time answering a question as time is limited.
- Pay attention to your posture and any fidgeting.
- The interview itself was described as "relaxed" and "chill." It's supposed to be more of a discussion.
- Have several questions prepared to ask. Find questions that cannot be answered by information on the website and that show you have an interest in the program and it's mission and values.
Dress:
- Business professional, traditional/neutral colors and patterns
- For men, a suit is recommended.
- For women, below the knee skirts with a blouse, a dress, or a pant suit. Panty hose is optional (though some seemed to recommend using them). Closed toed shoes, either heels or flats. Some said you should definitely wear a blazer, and others said it was personal preference.
- Cover any tattoos, take out any piercings except the normal lobe piercing, and have natural-colored hair.
- Clean cut appearance with beard shaved/shaped.
- Some were split on acrylic nails. Some said not to have them at all. Others said it was okay to have acrylic nails, just nothing super long or oddly shaped. Nail polish should be neutral colors.
- Essentially, dress fairly traditional and neutral. Nothing too flashy or over-the-top. Most of the panelists will be older and have more traditional tastes.
Omg thank you so much!!!
Does anyone know if they'll give our spot to someone else if we decide not to attend the interview? I already heard I was accepted to my first choice and was planning on interviewing just for experience, but if the spot would go to someone who really wants it I would give it up. I don't want to outright ask them for obvious reasons. Thanks!
