UNE ABSN 2019

Published

-Hi Everyone

I wanted to start a thread for UNE's ABSN (Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Program starting January 2019. I submitted my application May 2018 and received my acceptance letter July 5th 2018 (letter was dated 6/28). After getting this great news, I declined my spot at UMass Amherst's ABSN program. I declined due to the start date being Aug 2018 which wouldn't allow enough time to transition (quitting my job, moving to Springfield...etc,.) I am currently waitlisted for MGH's DEN Program and am still waiting to hear back from a few other schools. UNE is one of my top choices due to the success of past students, receiving a merit award and the start date being next year. I will most likely be attending.

Anyone else planning on attending this program?!

-@Beccak30 exciting to know that their simulation center is high tech. That should be a great learning experience! I think I am more nervous about finding a place to live than actually starting the program at this point.

-@Maddie as far as information, when I called after making my deposit in July, the gentleman i spoke to told me that they wouldn't be reaching out to anyone for next steps until all seats were filled (he said around October). He advised me to complete the checklist they sent, like health care forms, setting up email, etc. but he said there was was nothing left to do and someone would be in contact with me to provide details specifically for our program. I hope that helped.

-Will anyone be keeping a job part time or full time during the 16 months?

Yeah I totally agree I'm also most nervous about the move and finding a place to live!

Thanks for sharing, I figured they were waiting for spots to fill before giving us more information!

Hi guys! I just got my acceptance letter! Super excited to meet all of you!

Congrats Bethany!! are you from Maine?

Specializes in NICU.

I just got my acceptance letter for UNE for Spring 2019 too. I don't know much about the program. Has anyone heard about the NCLEX pass rate? I'm waiting to hear back from two other schools that also start in January

Hello Everybody,

I just got my acceptance letter yesterday. I have reserved my spot and I am so stoked. I am coming from California too, I noticed that this program takes a good amount of Cali folks which is cool. Has anybody gotten a full rundown of the total costs for the program? The NCLEX pass rate is super encouraging so I really think this program is a good one. It is great to hear that the facilities are top notch. What have you guys seen in terms of rent out in Portland? I have lived in SoCal for a long time so what should I expect in terms of the winter, like any advice on a good warm coat and that kind of stuff? I am so excited. Also, what is the age demographic, does anybody know? I am pretty old entering this I think at 44. Anyhow, super stoked for the opportunity and excited to get back to New England where I did my undergrad.

Cheers'

Megan

Hello! I was recently accepted and put in my deposit last weekend. Has anyone heard anything else from the program?

Hi Kfedi,

I received an email last week about completing a few additional steps with the links you will need. A checklist was also included as well as uniform information. The email should be coming from the ABSN Coordinator if you haven't already received it. Hope this answered your question.

Hi Meg! Congrats on your acceptance. Age is nothing but a number. I will be turning 30 in February and many thought I was crazy for returning back to school. I am too super excited for this opportunity and look forward to this roller coaster ride.

Completely understand; ive been so anxious especially since I got my acceptance in June and am now just hearing back! Now i'm finally diving into apartment hunting.

Facebook group would be great. I was going to start one but was waiting on more participants to chime in on this site. Feel free to start one and share the link here so we can all access it.
