Hi all!!! Just curious to see if anyone else out there is waiting on acceptance letters from UNCW NP program at UNCW. I am anxiously waiting. Would be good to connect with other anxious waiters..LOL!
Hi all, I am also applying to UNC-W for 2016. Still working on that application. I've applied at ECU for the BSN-DNP for adult geri NP and at UNC-CH adult-geri NP. UNC-CH is not online, more of a hybrid, with one day on campus per week (either Tuesday or Wednesday), but if you're within an hour or two and your work schedule would accommodate that, it wouldn't be too bad. Applications closed for ECU on Monday and UNC on Tuesday this week though and both have Fall-only matriculation.
You're correct, there aren't many online options here in NC. Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky, South University, and University of South Alabama are approved for on-line NP programs here in NC. There are a couple more...Georgetown maybe...the information can be found on the UNC Board of Governor's website as they are the ones that approve out-of-state university programs.
Probably more information that you wanted to know, but I've been doing my research for more than a year now.
Good luck to you!
Jen
Hi Jen!
Did you apply to UNC Charlotte or was that UNC Chapel Hill?
I was planning on applying to Chapel Hill but live in Charlotte and felt a 2+ hour commute seemed to be alot - but I was told it was two days a week? Where did you hear it was only one??
Thanks for the info! I've also applied to UNC Charlotte...The waiting process is worse than the actual application process in my opinion!
Hi smilesweet, I applied to UNC Chapel Hill. I attended an information session a couple of months ago and was told the on-campus time for class was either Tuesday or Wednesday, alternating each semester. There would be an additional day for clinicals, but hopefully they would be able to arrange those closer to your home. I live less than an hour from Chapel Hill, which is why applied. Some of the coursework is online as well.
I applied for the part time program, which may hurt me with limited spaces. I looked at the UNC Charlotte program, but I really need a primarily online program if the drive is more than an hour or so away from home.
I just found out that Vanderbilt University in Tennessee is now approved for NC students, and I think that are mostly online but they do require campus visits fairly often...maybe monthly, over a long weekend. Clinicals would be in your local area.
I know, I applied to ECU only last year and wasn't accepted into the program. Thought it was best to apply to multiple programs this year. Since I've completed my BSN and have all my prerequisites completed, instead of in process, and improved my GRE score, I'm hoping this will help. I expect to hear from ECU around the end of this month for an interview. UNC doesn't have interviews. ECU will probably have decisions around the first week of March, UNC didn't notify until May last year. I'll try to hold off on too many nerves until late February. I guess it helps to know the process from last year.
At least I have something else to focus on right now... I'm studying for my certification exam for GI nursing. Trying to stay busy and not think too much! I wish you luck!
Jen
I found Vanderbilt on the UNC Board of Governors site of approved schools (http://www.northcarolina.edu/?q=content/approved-degree-programs-licensed-institutions).
It is newly listed. University of South Alabama has also been on the list for quite a while, but maybe they are trying to add an additional course of study that is still pending? There are very few dnp programs approved, but all of the schools I listed are approved for various MSN NP programs.

I'm in the same boat! I'm putting down my NC address for the application, but am not applying as an in state resident (since you need proof you've lived at the NC address for >12 months).
