UNC-CH ABSN for 2011

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Just to get a good idea of where I stand when I apply to UNC-CH's ABSN program I have a couple questions, if someone could answer. First, I am graduating with a psych degree, and a child dev. minor with a 3.5 gpa. What is the average gpa that UNC normally admits? Second, I know volunteer work is important to any admission process, however, I've always been involved in Club Lacrosse and Crew, and never had time to volunteer besides tutoring my teammates. Does anyone know how heavily they weigh volunteer work?

Thanks!!!

p.s. all of my pre-req's are completed.

Your best bet is to call the office directly. Theyre great- ms contests on Duke! I applied there but was wait listed. Oh well - glad I'll be a tar heel!!

Calling is better. I have heard from the grape vine that maybe up to 90 people maybe accepted in total to begin in january....thats what've heard....and yes from past cohort most people found out at the earlist end of october and normally november-ish. It is pretty fast and thats how it usually is, but we got this time because we were the first app group that was put in a cohort we did not apply. Its fast but doable. I just know for sure that there is sometime of orientation in november...so they kind of have to give y'all time...I assume.

hi there, so as long as yall don't mind me asking... i just applied in July for the January 2012 ABSN cohort, and how many have they already accepted? how many will they accept? i got into duke but if i get into unc i'm definitely going there...but i have to make a financial commitment to duke in 2 weeks. does anyone know how many people are going to be admitted and also, does anyone know when they will be sending out decisions? if it's really mid-november that's a little bit ridiculous... that gives us a month and the holidays to figure everything out...

any info would be greatly appreciated, since carolina generally isn't great about communication (i went to undergrad there...and had the same problems)

I know some people who waited out for Duke only to have other schools say no. Duke has an excellent program. I guess it's a matter of how much of a risk taker you are!! I like to play it safe- I'd take Duke just because you're in. I'd hate to wait to hear from UNC only to not get in...not that i'm saying you won't get in:)

Good luck cause you've got a tough choice ahead of you!!

Any news on how many people will be admitted and/or when they're sending out the decisions? I called in July after I submitted my app and they said October, but newer info would be nice!
