Unable to get a Hospice job

I have 7 yrs experience in Stepdown & 2 in critical care & can't seem to even get an interview for a Hospice position. Why is it so difficult to get a Hospice job. What else do I need? How can I get into Hospice? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

I can think of a couple of reasons you may be having difficulty. If you've been making more money or are requesting more money than what they want to pay per hour, for instance. According to the internet, hospice case managers average $40/hr. This is simply not true, although it varies according to your state. One hospice in my area (mid-GA), which I applied to a few years ago, only pays $23/hr (which I did not know at the time) and probably explains why I never got an interview despite years of hospice experience and a stable work history.

Another reason may be that they have applicants WITH hospice experience and they have made a conscious decision to hire only from that pool. Experience is definitely something they look for when hiring, but you can sometimes get around that by agreeing to work for much less. When I first took a job in hospice 8 yrs ago, it was for
