Un. of North Florida Accelerated BSN program...

Published

Hi there! ;)

I currently live in California (born and raised here)...and thinking of relocating to another state in order to pursue nursing...I have a friend who has been living in Jacksonville, Florida for more than a year (her husband is from there)...and she offered me a room to rent at her new home for a cheap price if I do decide to move to Fl. for nursing school . I doubt I'll be able to bring my car from California to Florida...so I am wondering if any of you who are in the program at the Un. of North Florida...and had to relocate from another state....How is the transportation working for you? Did you bring your own car from home to Florida? Take the bus? Bike? I don't know how far the clinicals are from the school...I'm scared how far the distance might be...Plus I don't want to have my friend keep taking me to school, etc. Any advice would help!

Good luck to you all!

Thanks so much! :heartbeat

By land area, Jacksonville is the largest city in the United States.

It's also one of the most annoying cities to drive in that I've ever seen. Seems like the whole damn city is one-way and under construction, and the traffic is terrible at times.

Is there some reason why you can't drive here to Florida? I know the gas would be expensive, but it would sure beat the time and money you would spend on public transportation. Over time, anyway. If driving in Jax is a pain, taking public transportation could only be worse when it comes to time spent traveling.

I suggest you fly out to visit your friend and scout things out. See how far she lives from the school. Visit the school and ask about clinical sites, then visit those sites.

i'm in a similar situation! born and raised in california (los angeles), undergrad at ucd. i just found out about my acceptance to valdosta in southern georgia (~15miles from the florida border) and i'm deciding if i should drive across the country or maybe buy a car in ga? i don't know how i'm going to stand the humidity? i'm really excited for the new change, but i know i'll desperately miss the best food, shopping and weather ca offers. good luck!

I might have to transfer my car over to Florida...Plus I've already been planning to fly out to Jacksonville to check out the school...Thanks for you advice though!

You will need a car for sure...clinical sites are all over the city.
