Curious to talk with other people who have applied as well. I tried last year for the ABSN but was wait listed, so this year I am trying the traditional route to see if I have better luck. Tnk we hear about our applications by the beginning of march.

I applied. I have gotten nowhere with the admissions dept for nursing at UMB. They do not answer anything, and do not return emails. All I was told, is decisions do not go out until end of March.
However, I know a woman who applied back in Dec for Trad BSN, not early acceptance, and already found out she was accepted. She did not have to go into the "pool".
I was also told there are three rounds of admissions you need to make it through in order to be accepted. Any truth to this? I have NO idea!
I have also applied to Regis, and crossing all fingers I get in there. That is my #1 choice. It is much more convienent for me...
Maybe that person applied to the spring semester start instead of fall by they find out in December. I don't know about the three parts to the admission process, but maybe it includes the app, pool, and interview. I got the letter in the mail that says I'm in the nursing pool, will get a final decision letter by march 15. Seems so long away from now....
They applied for Fall 2012, I know her personally. May I ask, when did you recieve your letter stating you are in the pool? I have recieved nothing from them and I am just trying to figure out if I should call and inquire about my application. I dont want to be a bug to them!
Good luck to you!!!

It's so nice to know that I'm not alone in the waiting game!! I had applied to get in as a transfer for the spring 2012 semester and got my rejection letter about 2 weeks after the application deadline. I did reapply to this program again, but still I haven't gotten any word from anyone either except a letter and an email from Admissions telling me they have all of my stuff. Last time UMass was the only place I applied to but this time I've applied to them and Salem State and I'm studying for the TEAS for RCC (application deadline is March 15). I would've tried an accelerated program, but I would prefer to learn at a slower pace.
I'm always checking my status online and it hasn't changed at all which is really frustrating. I would like to get into UMass since they are close by and it would only take me 2.5 years to get the BSN (it takes 3 years at Salem State and I would have to move out there). I would prefer to get my BSN but if RCC is willing to take me then I'll take my chances with them.
If you're looking for anymore info about the program try these two links:

I also forgot to mention that you can call them about 1.5 to 2 weeks after the deadline and ask about why your status hasn't changed. Back in November I did just that and the vague answers I got told me I was rejected before I even got the letter (ironically it was later that day). I just wish that they would admit more students than they say they do (UMass gives more seats to transfers and freshmans than they do to intercollege transfers).
I hope this answers some questions that you may have...

I also applied and got the "in the pool" letter. Now after reading some threads..I am scared I ill not get in. It's my last yr before my science courses expire... so I would be so sad!

I just graduated the nursing program from umb & when I applied there was no interview ....not sure if that is something new, but if you sent in your app& got in then they just sent us acceptance letters or denials. Not sure what the "pool" means never heard of it but I think maybe it has to do with clinical...I know that sometimes they don't have enough spots & although you have been accepted you have to wait for one to open...kind of like a wait list....idk
I already got my rejection letter last Monday. I had that feeling that I'd get rejected again; oh well at least I have other options... Good luck to those still in the running :)

Hi everyone! I'm the person EG24 is talking about (:
I applied in November and received the acceptance letter in late December for Fall 2012.
I'm aware that that the usual process is applicant pools, so I was surprised to just get the acceptance so soon.
Best of luck to all of you who applied!

Hello there,
I applied to UMass Boston for the Traditional Nursing program for Fall 2012 as a transfer student. I have contacted the school today via email and they informed me that a decision has been made on my file and they will mail out the decision letter shortly. I tried checking my status online but nothing has been updated. It still says that I am placed in the nursing pool, etc. I also just emailed back to the Admission Office to see if they can tell me the decision but I doubt that they would do that. I am getting quite impatient and nervous.
I completed all the pre-requirement courses and had my Microbiology and Anatomy professors send in recommendation letters for me. I have a 3.82 GPA overall and now that I reread my essay/personal statement, I wish I had made a few corrections here and there. Does anyone know if the essay counts a lot? How competitive is it? Has anyone heard anything from UMass yet?
Thanks and good luck to everyone!
