Hi everyone! I didn't see anyone post about the up and coming fall 2013 cohort for Umass Amherst so here it is! I just got accepted and wanted to discuss anything and everything about the school to make a hard decision of whether to go there or not. Goodluck everyone!
Itulloch21- Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me a little about the school and town area. Is it near a city or is it small town kinda place? Im from Florida and go to Florida State University. Ive heard all good things about the nursing program but dont know the area at all. Thanks :)

Sure thing! The school is not in a city and is not very close to one either. Springfield and Worcester are prob the two closest cities. However, the school itself is like a city. It's huge! But Amherst is a really pretty town in a beautiful area. I am origionally from a town just outside of boston, so a city gal at heart i still loved it in Amherst. There are buses that go throughout the town and to some surrounding towns. I had a good friend in the traditional nursing program who loved it. She said the professors are awesome and the classes are taught very well. As far as doing clinicals she said she didn't think she was losing out on any kind of experiance not being in the city. Hope that helps a little!

ummmm if youre looking to fly into an international airport hartford ct is the closest. there are alot of little airports near by amherst but im not sure what airlines actually land there. i too was set on being in a city after 4 years at umass but all the other programs i got into were crazy expensive. its awful! but i figure if i end up at umass its only 17 months and ill have no time for an actual life besides studying so it really wont matter where i am! where else are you considering?
Okay ill look into the small airports and flights to hartford. Yeah my other program is Marymount University in Arlington, Va. About 50,000 tuition. Im waiting for NYU's decision which should be anytime this week/weekend. The money is crazy but its an experience. I applied to FSU but cant stay here another year haha too much partying
valeenal, sadly i will be of no use to that question I lived in apts on campus my junior and senior year so i never had to go through the hassel of finding housing. But from friends experiences it all really depends. the closer you are to campus the more expensive it is. but sometimes you can find good deals depending on the number of people you are living with. I need to start looking into that as well. I'll keep you updated with what I find out. Are you definitely going to umass? Maybe I'll try to figure out how to make a facebook group so we can all see who is looking for housing/roomates/etc.

Hey guys, I was also accepted to UMass Amherst and is one of my top choices. I graduated this past December from Umass. It's a really great school and the nursing program is one of the best! Just thought I'd say hello to potential classmates!
