Umass has several campuses (obviously) I have seen many posts about the Boston Campus on-line rn to BSN as well as Amherst's BSN program but nothing that I can find on the online RN to BSN. HAs anyone been accepted to the program or know about it? I ask because the program in Boston takes two years but the Amherst program starts over the summer and you graduate in Spring. I have been to the website and looked at the program specifics so please don't misinterpret this as me wanting to know what the pre req's are or what the application process is. I am just looking for real live people who might have experienced this program first hand. I am looking for a program I can finish in a year after my current program. The only other I have found is Worcester State but it starts in the spring semester - which means I could have a break from school but it also would mean that I would not graduate in time to begin a Masters program in the fall (which is when most start) I would have to wait an entire year. YES some would say then I can get more work experience, I know this:wink2: Just weighing all my options. Anyway, I know faster is not always better but is it in the instance? Thanks for any comments even if they are not nice. It is always a bummer when nobody comments on your post especially when you can see how many people looked at it LOL!
I am a little nervous that nobody knows about this program, I didn't think it was new. Are most MA people on this site from Eastern MA? I would have thought lots of people would be interested in their program since it is one year and on-line and most other rn-bsn take longer. Oh well, I figured I would try to keep the thread going and maybe someone would come around!

will your credits equal 120?.......that is the bachelors requirement.....it might take one year to finish the nursing segment...which is 30 credits.....but the rest I think will be in approved transfer credits and non-nursing general credits....eg. language, history.....which will take longer. Unless you already have a bachelors then I do believe it is one year.
correct me if I am wrong.....
ps: I am in the RN-BSN Umass Boston online which starts next monday.....
all the best:)

I just finished the program. had no issue with the professors, but remembered why I hated dealing with overzealous students .
The administration at UMB is kinda insane like any beaurocracy it takes forever to accomplish anything (15 phone calls totalling about 4 hours and 4 papers turned in to get my address changed from my parents address to my new apartment).
They also kept saying every semester that I couldn't register because they had me down as an incoming freshman nursing student, but again that was administration not the actual RN program.

I just came out of a program that does not grant a actual BSN degree, only that I've taken enough nursing classes to be "equivalent" to a BSN degree. I already have a bachelor's in another field. I'm interested in the UMASS Boston online program. Did you say that it was only a year. Can you explain to me how the program will work? Thanks!
Hi,
Can you tell me about the UMASS boston online RN-BS program. How long is it going to take to get the BS degree. How do you like the overall program. I graduated from an accelerated nursing program that does not grant BS degree so I'm looking for other options.

Nurseismade RN,
I was wondering how your experience has been thus far w/ UMB RN-BSN online? I recently graduated from an ADN program in Florida and would like to purse a BSN from UMB online. It would be great to hear what your experience has been like. I'm wondering about the admission GPA; I know the website lists at least a 2.5, but how competitive is it really? How have the classes been? I finished up my last yr and a half for my bachelors in business in an online format and it was doable, but nursing seems much more challenging to me than business. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Colleen
