UMass Amherst ABSN 2011

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hey - is anyone else out there applying for UMass Amherst's ABSN for Fall 2011? Apps are due next week - just wanted to connect with others applying and get a thread started! :yeah:

re jesss:

i had a 3.6 from my b.s. in kinesiology and almost a 4.0 in all my pre req's. i completed the CNA course, but never got my license, and thus, did not have experience (though i did do a lengthy internship at a PT/OT clinic).

Not sure if anyone is stil checking this forum out, but I am applying to Umass Amherst ABSN for Fall 2012...I know someone of you have been accepted and have started and was wondering if you can give me your thoughts on the program so far. I visited the campus and chatted with an admissions advisor and LOVED IT.

Anyways hope to hear from you :)

Andrew,

I'm currently enrolled in the program right now. I've really enjoyed it and it certainly has it's lists of pros and cons. The clinical experience has been tough but definitely beneficial. The people in the program are great, and it's a very mixed group in terms of age, gender and background which is definitely nice. I'd say the major drawback from the program is the lack of organization. They are still working the kinks out and there have been more than a few issues with tests, assignments, etc. But overall I'd definitely recommend it.

Hey Ed!

Thanks for the quick reply. Ya I hear most ABSN programs are a bit scattered and unorganzied but it is what it is. I am just wondering how the course load is....some people say they are hard, some say they arent hard just time consumming...I just want to know what to be prepared for.

I was really interested in applying for the ABSN program for the next year to begin in Fall 2013 since I have pre reqs I need to take. I have a low undergrad GPA and am counting on the Grades in the pre reqs to help me out. I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice on how to overcome this when I apply. By the way, i just graduated college in May.
