was wondering if someone could help me out... is skin rash / ulcerative colitis related in any way?
A patient has a history of ulcerative colitis and now has a rash that used to respond to some over-the-counter creams but now nothing helps and it is itchier and thicker than before. Is this related to ulcerative ciolitis in any ways or is there a seperate diagnosis one would make / assume?

If you read your textbook or find a reputable website on ulcerative colitis, you will find the answer to your question.

There is a type of rash associated with UC (among other things) called granuloma annulare that sometimes acts like this. It could also be another autoimmune disease such as psoriasis. Usually a biopsy of the rash will shed some light on it. Also Sulfasalazine can present a uticarial rash that can be hard to control.
