UK to USA.Agency or alone?

Hi

as a UK RN wanting to get green card I'm interested to know what those who have already gone through the process recomend.

Currently I work as Clinical Nurse Specialist in anticoagulation/DVT/PE.

Ihave approached OGP and told that I need to go back to ICU (although I have 8 years ICU experience already) for them to sponsor me. Also they say most posts are nights and full time-neither of which I relish as I have a young family.

They say rates are $21 -$34 per hour(not sure if they pay extra for nights)depending on where they locate you (ie cost of living) not experience.

At the risk of sounding like I'm blowing my own trumpet I have 19 years experience and don't want to sell myself short

Any advice re other agencies/going it alone/likelihood of getting p/t work direct through hospitals after NCLEX etc would be wonderful as hubby and I are tearing our hair out trying to work out best way!

Agencies are just fine in some cases, but again, you should be able to pick the facility, not the agency telling you where you will work. I have major issues with that............some of the agencies have no idea about the facility where they will actually place you and that is just wrong.
