UK TRAINED NURSE - NOTHING BUT HURDLES

I am really just about at the point of giving up on a nursing career in the US. Another knock back from the CGFNS, I have been in the process of doing this with the CGFNS since August 2022.

Originally, they waived for an access to nursing course but now after 3 months have changed their mind?! I have contacted my college where I completed my course and they definitely do not have any transcripts, I've tried the SQA and NMC who also can't help. I only completed this course in 2010 so really don't understand this.

This is the 3rd time my University had provided extra information yet when you send them more, it's no longer a transcript and want them sent again. So will give it a couple days and see if what they have sent is acceptable.

I am looking to gain lisensure for PA state and see that Josef Silny is an approved credential evaluator- has anyone ever used them? Has any UK trained nurse went down the route of LPN/LVN?

Many thanks everyone

Hi Scott

Am I correct to say your university haven't send your transcript to CGFNS ?

I used ERES but they only apply to certain States. I'm also in a predicament but it's different to yours regarding my clinical hours

Hi

My University have sent my transcripts however they then asked for more information on hours achieved in each section and then wanted further information on my placements and how they factored into child, maternal, psyche ect.

Im confused at this point to be honest. My university has went back again and done what they asked but awaiting feedback.

If this doesn't work out this time I'm going to try another credential evaluation service as listed by PA BON. It's just a shame as I've spent almost $700-800 with the CGFNS and it's wasted countless months (I've been doing this since last August/September!) that I really could have done without.

I'll post here if a miracle happens LOL

I was hoping I'd see good news from you! I'm also a RN here in the UK but peds trained and I'm having a nightmare with trying to find any correct Information out there. Californias board of nursing is now saying they may not accept me as I was peds trained even though my university theory and some practical was in all areas ??

Hi Courtney

Finally CGFNS have accepted everything from me, I've purchased the expedited review so will be 10 working days before I know if all is good or not.

If you have done some theory and practical in all fields then they will be recognised.

I've seen some promising things on this forum, a user stated if you are short of hours in certain fields/areas sometimes a local college will be able to help you achieve these hours - this means you won't have to go through your whole degree again.

I'll keep you posted on what my outcome is, I'm hoping for a positive one

Just an update. Received my CES report and it's been sent to PA BON. Still not sure if I have enough hours in each area - but nothing is zero so that has to be a bonus!

Has any UK NURSE used Josef Silny for credential evaluation?

Hi @ScottishNurse22

I did completed my masters in Adult nursing. I am wondering how would I verify my nursing credentials from NMC. Please guide me if you any idea about it.

Can you throw a little light on this please. I'm currently in my second year as a mental health nursing student , I have scorched the internet for information about making up all other aspects of nursing I will be falling short of but to no avail . I will be glad if you can at least share more light on this as any information regarding this hours will greatly help my future credential evaluation . I wouldn't say I regret training here in the Uk because of circumstances but with the hurdles and restrictions I have encountered so far is making me loose interest more practicing in the Uk . I will gladly appreciate any information to this respect .

I have only heard success stories from Adult trained nurses as they tend to do a bit of everything anyway where paeds/mental seems really specialised. However, I could be totally wrong, but I've never seen it here or anywhere else.
