UK Nurses working in Canada

Published

Hi Can anyone help with information on UK Nurses and eligability working in Canada. Does Canada accept or recognised UK trained mental health nurses?

Depends on where you wish to work first of all. Each province has their own licensing.

For the most part, you need to meet the requirements for a general trained RN as you would have to do for the US in order to get licensed there.

The mental health trained nurse does not get the RN status in Canada without having training in all of the other areas and getting permission to sit for the CRNE exam.

Much is already written on this topic and they evaluate each individual on their own.

I would contact the appropriate College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses.

Registred Psych. Nurses practice in western Canada in the mental health field. So I would google for Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan. They have their own entrance requirements and I believe they write a separate registration exam.
