Funding for international nurses may be hard to get but a lot will depend on the university you apply to. Not sure what job situation is like for L&D in the US but I think you would be better to look at getting requirements to meet state license requirements and get any job where employer will sponsor you and then start looking to L&D jobs. Are there no 18 month courses in the UK you can do?
There's also the matter of the difference between UK degrees (in general) and US degrees. My son-in-law is from the UK- and his UK bachelor's contains almost no General Education content (English, history, social and life sciences, math et.c.) that is 30% or more of a US degree. He just enrolled in a US degree program and is needing to do all the GenEd content despite his prior bachelor's.

Hi everyone!
Was wondering if anyone was UK midwife or UK trained and wanted to move to the US to do nursing?
I am British citizen and have just qualified as a midwife in the UK but did not do the nursing degree beforehand. I have always wanted to become a labor and delivery nurse in the US but I have been put off by finance, difficulty and length of training and whether I’d even be able to get a job after. However after 6 years I am determined to achieve this dream of mine. I am aware the US does not recognise the UK midwifery degree.
I was wondering if someone could explain to me what I would have to do to become an L&D nurse? In terms of prerequisites, I believe I have done many of the courses required with my midwifery degree as well as my previous degree in Sports Science & Physiology. If there were additional ones I needed would I be able to do these online from the UK?
Both of my degrees are Bachelor of Science degrees.
I have heard of the accelerated route BSN Nursing from various colleges which is one year. Would I get the same opportunities if I did this, to then become an L&D nurse?
And in terms of funding, what kind of financial aid or scholarships are available to international students?
Please can everyone share their experiences!
