2018 UIC Graduate Entry Master of Science Program (GEM)

Published

I haven't seen a post about UIC GEM 2018 program so I figured I'd start it.

Has anyone else been invited to the mock interviews and planning on attending?

Question: does anyone here know of an actual denied applicant??? An applicant who received a "no" decision from UIC GEMS admissions?

No, not as of yet

How many students does the program accept? Is it like 60 students? And does anyone know how many do they usually waitlist from previous years or maybe have heard from friends?

They are taking 55 students this year. I spoke to a student last year and they said this year they expect to take at least 15 wait list people since they decisions were given out so late.

Im not sure if they will send out any no's at this point. Alot of people have already committed so I don't think they want to turn people away just yet.

Really? Is your friend in the program now?

Yes my friend is in the program now, finishing up. :-) She said usually they make decisions by March but this year alot more people applied. But the caveat in waiting that long to tell people is that they will most likely commit to another school if they applied since the decision announcement was so late.

Hi! I am currently in the same situation in which I have to choose between Depaul and UIC. What are your thoughts? Or does anyone have any further insight. I know people from both programs but an unbiased opinion is always appreciated!

What I look at is the NCLEX passing rate. DePaul has a higher passing rate than UIC. However I'm sticking to UIC because I graduated from this school and it's a top nursing school.

DePaul also has a concentration in education , while UIC is more of a clinical nurse leader. So it really all depends on what your looking for.

Yep, I'm really struggling with the choice too.

I really can't decide. I have reasons for liking DePaul (location, better communication, emphasis on community health) and reasons for liking UIC (emphasis on global health, the fact that it's highly ranked, connection to a health system). It's going to be a hard choice.

Hi! I just got accepted as well! I'm am deciding should I do UIC or Resurrection University Evening/Weekend Program. I don't want a second bachelors degree when I can just get a Master of Science Degree and become a clinical nurse leader.
