UIC BSN for Fall 2013 applicants...

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello all,

I applied to UIC for their BSN program for fall 2013. SUPER stressed about it. If anyone else has applied, you know they have very specific pre reqs, so if I don't get in here, I will have taken a ton of classes for nothing :( I've been reading some posts from this time last year, and it sounds like the most important things are your GPA, essays, and letters of recommendation. My GPA is only a 3.54. I think my essays were pretty good- I have quite a bit of experience in hospitals, as a patient and employee, and I did well with writing papers in the past. I had a professor from UIC (who is also a professor at City Colleges of Chicago that taught my Microbio class) write one of my letters of recommendation, and my CNA instructor from Truman write the other. I got my CNA certification over this past summer, specifically to help with my application to UIC. So I work in a hospital now. I was hoping to have been able to keep my 4.0 GPA, becuase with my work experience I figured they would kind of have to take me. But now with my lower GPA I'm freaking out! Anyone gone through this in the past? Any words of wisdom? Anyone not made it in, and applied the next year?

Hm... That;s strange. I got my email around 10am today. Have you tried calling. I would call asap! Call t

the adviser in urbana. Check you spam. Hopefully it's there and says your accepted!

I'm too scared to call him, I'm nervous as hell for this. :( If he doesn't tell me I've been accepted, I'll be so ashamed. I don't even have any back up schools because UIUC was my first and only choice and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

And also, I don't want to be a community health major or anything like that. My heart lies strongly with nursing with a degree from UIC. :'(

does anyone on the waitlist know if you have to send transcripts in to UIC after this semester?

I know someone that received denial email today. I assumed everyone heard today, but who knows. You should definitely check your spam and call if you have any concerns.

I'd actually like to know that too. I assume we do. I'm thinking there should be a call made to them about that. I was going to call them tomorrow so I'll let you know.

Nothing in my spam. There might still be hope...

Did that person apply to the Urbana or Chicago campus?

In the faq it says this:

"What can I do to improve my chances of being admitted from the waitlist? The first step is to accept your place on the waitlist by completing the online Waitlist Response Form included in your notification. Only students who accept their place will be considered for future admission. We respectfully ask that you no submit additional letters of recommendation or additional materials such as writing samples, transcripts, etc. Please do not call to inquire about your chances of being admitted because we cannot speculate on those chances."

So maybe we dont have to send transcripts in?

Thanks Future. I need it!

Hmm I understand how your feeling... But I applied to Urbana too and heard back. Did you give them a different email? I would call, maybe the emailing situation is off. Plus there is always next yr, which sounds like a bummer I know but don' t lose hope.

Hi there!

I just got off the phone with UIC. I spoke with **********. He indicated that we are not to send any transcripts in until we hear back from them regarding acceptance.

Another thing he said is that everyone on the waitlist is on a rank and not a lottery system.

I hope we are way on top!

Those spots on may 20th will be ours!! Crossing fingers!!!
