Has anyone had any experience at Darton College in Albany? I am hoping to apply for Fall 2010 nursing program. Problem is, I only have a 2.8 GPA..eeek! And I saw on their website that you have to have 3-5 core classes (with one being a mandatory A&P I) completed before you apply. I have all of my prereq's completed except for A&P I and II and Micro I and II. I will be taking A&P I and Micro I Spring semester along with a couple of retake classes to boost my GPA.
If you've been to Darton, what do you think my chances are at getting in? I hear they take 100 students every semester but it is the HESI that weeds applicants out. What do you think?

I am currently in my third semester out of five at Darton College. Yes they do accept 100 students three times a year, so there is a greater chance of getting in with a lower GPA. The HESI test is not that bad just study the study guide. I actually made a post about the HESI a while ago. Look for that post I included alot of helpful information. I got accepted into the program without having my English 1102 or Microbiology done. My advice to you would be to get all of your prerequisites out of the way if possible. Hope this information helps.
thanks so much for your response! i am actually retaking a couple of classes this semester that I made C's in at Augusta state. I'm thinking that I should make A's in those...they are super easy classes. Hopefully that will bring me up to a 3.0. I have a meeting with Mrs. Sipper tomorrow to discuss the HESI and my chances of getting in (but after talking to other people my chances are looking pretty fair- I only have one class to take after this semester-A&P II). I'll look for your post as well:)
Did you have Dr. Breana Simmons for Micro? I'm taking her this semester. Any advice for her class?
Thanks!
No I will be taking my Micro at the Albany campus. I think the instructor's name is Mr. Wilson.
:) thanks anyway!

I plan on applying to Darton the fall sem also but, I'm not sure if I'll get in to the LPN to RN (1 day a wk) program. Can you guys give me you oppinion, here is what I have completed: Micro, speech, lifespand develop. psy, intro psy, soicialogy, medical term and I'm taking English as we speak online but will not be finished until May 9th. They stop taking app's June 15th. Do you think I stand a chance? Should I go ahead and apply before I get my English grade?? Should I apply in April?
Thanks in Adavance

I'm currently taking classes at Georgia Southern and my GPA is low too. I wouldn't be able to get into their nursing program so I spoke with Mrs. Sipper one afternoon and she was really encouraging. She told me they only look at the classes they required to calulate your GPA when you're trying to enter there program. So I'm trying to get into the program this fall too.
