I've been studying for the Pax-Rn test, and everytime i take the pre-tests on the disc that came with study book, I don't do well:( I'm freaking out cause my test is on June 29th...I don't know why things are not staying in my brain?!? Anyone else experience this, and whwn you do, how do you overcome the frustrations?

Have you ever seen that episode of Married with Children where every time Kelly learns something new, something she previously knew flies out of her head and drops dead (am I showing my age by even bringing up that show)? Sometimes I feel exactly like that! My brain has a capacity and when that is reached, I'm in trouble.
The only thing I could suggest is trying to learn it in a different way. Sometimes the same old study habits get boring and make it hard to retain information. I had a friend who used to buy black paper and those neon gel pens and take notes with that...because it kept her interested. I'm not sure what specifically you're having a hard time learning, but maybe see if there are interactive games online or just make up one yourself at home. Eventually the info has got to stick, you just got to make it interesting enough for your brain to remember.
Good luck!

Like the person above me said, I don't know exactly what you're studying. I always find it extremely helpful to have someone else quiz me. For me, it seems to stick so much better when it comes out of someone else's mouth instead of repeated over and over again in my head. I usually have my fiancé, friend or mom help. It can get pretty hilarious because half the time they have no idea what they're reading or even how to pronounce it. We also come up with funny sayings and things that i can think back on during the test. Hope you find a method that works for you! Good luck!
Oh! Another thing I do is have my Mac read to me. If I have a huge amount of reading, I'll put my Mac in Speech mode while I relax or give myself a much needed manicure. I'm not sure if you can apply this to how you need to study now. Just a little help for future reference.
Thanks all,
I'm studying for the nurse entrance exam(2-yr nursing program) and I've decided maybe I'm getting too distracted at home..?? so today is day 1, that I'll be going to school after work and going to study on my laptop in the library. LaceElaine, That Mac sounds awesome, I'd love to have my laptop read to me! Brookelin, your not much older then me and I do remember watching that show! lol Well lets hope this helps, because I'm starting to get into panic mode, and just getting really frustrated with myself...
