UF ABSN/Accelerated BSN Summer 2022

Published

Hey guys! I couldn’t find a thread for those applying for UF’s ABSN program in Summer 2022! I was thinking we could have a thread to support each other and share our thoughts!

I haven’t been able to find much on those admitted to UF’s ABSN program, but I found some things out when I emailed them! Their holistic approach worries me a bit since I feel like I am not well rounded, especially in the medical field. I’m really worried due to having 4 medical drops though if anyone knows how they handle those!

A little bit about me, I’m a senior currently attending UF in my last semester. I’m only taking anatomy and developmental psychology to finish out my prereqs for the program. My upper division GPA is decent at a 3.64 and my overall GPA is a little lower at 3.62. My prereq GPA is really good though at 3.86, but I’ll see how the two I have left affect it.

Has anyone even been able to touch the HESI though? I emailed when we were supposed to be able to register with UF and they said they had an issue with connecting to the Evolve portal. It’s still down and I’m getting even more nervous.

If anyone wants to ask questions, share thoughts, encourage each other, give advice, anything, I figured this thread might be a good place for us to start!!

Hey everyone, congrats on being accepted. I was just wondering what your stats were if you were accepted. I was denied, so I reached out to the advisor and she said I was not holistic enough. I am a student-athlete, have a 3.8, was a CNA all Summer, and 91 HESI with a perfect critical thinking score. Thank you!

Hey! So first I wanna say definitely don’t give up!! I’ve had family friends who have gotten denied from either ABSN or TBSN and took a year or two to strengthen their app and got in the second time!

To answer the question though, my stats were 3.62 GPA, 3.7 prereq GPA, and 94 HESI. I graduated UF in December 2021 with a double major in neuroscience and sociology. I was in a service sorority for 3 years , served as a chair for creative development in the sorority, worked as an office assistant in a doctors office for 2 years, was a manager of a local business for 2 years, did DM for two years, and volunteered with a program at UF that went to low income schools in Gainesville and taught about important concepts like health, exercise, hygiene, bullying, emotions, etc.

They REALLY focus on the essays though! I had a mentor for my essays and visited an academic advisor several times to help with my essays. In the end they were still my essays since they only gave me pointers on things that sounded weird or should be emphasized more.

Feel free to message me if you have anymore questions! Just don’t give up and definitely try again! Best of luck ?

Hey guys for everyone who was accepeted to the Jax campus for the Summer, I did make a facebook group (UF ABSN 2023 Jax campus) so that everyone can kind of get to know one another and ask questions :)

Hey 1peacelovenursing, I was excepted with a 3.1, 74 HESI, and no healthcare expereince. I am sorry to hear that, maybe it was the essay questions. I know u will land in the right place.

Hey, I’m really sorry to hear that ? your stats were very similar to what mine were. I have been a CNA for almost 1.5 years, had a 3.8 GPA as well and a 93% on the HESI. Can’t remember my critical thinking. I also interned for 3 months with Shands. My only thoughts would be that it had something to do with your recommendations and/or the essay. Like someone above mentioned, they do rely VERY heavily on the essay portion of the application. This is my second time applying to UF CON, first time being for the traditional BSN program. I think having strong recommendations, essays, and persistence can go a long way. I’m sorry again to hear you didn’t get in but don’t give up! If nursing is truly what you want to do, you can make it happen. I wish you the best of luck ? don’t let this get you down for too long!

Thank you so much for your response and encouragement, and congratulations on your acceptance! I was initially upset, but I have other acceptances that I am stoked about. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors, and thank you again for your thoughtful reply. ?

Thank you, and best of luck to you!

I was offered a seat off of the alternate list this weekend. I declined as I got into a program closer to home. 3.3 overall GPA, 3.8 prerequisite GPA. Solid HESI-A2 scores, thousands of hours of scribing and managerial experience +great LOR's. I didn't feel as great about my essay responses which is probably why I was initially rejected. Hoping my seat goes to someone here who deserves it, best of luck everyone!

Hello everyone!

My name is Analucia Cabanillas and I am currently in the ABSN program in Gainesville. I graduate August of this year so I am very excited. Congratulations to all of you who got accepted!!?

For those of you that got into the UF ABSN program...how is it? I tried to send private messages on here but it won't allow me. I am applying for the 2023 cohort. If you could give me any advice on the application process, or anything about the program, I would greatly appreciate it.

I really don't know what to think. I have not received anything yet. I have checked my status page on UF and my application still says "submitted". SO I am assuming I did not get in...and I realize I won't get an email saying so until later on....but shouldn't my application status say something??
