No, they do not have to be different class codes. When you open the application for the first time, you will see further instructions but essentially, you will just put the same course code for both the class and the lab if your school has a combined class and lab. They only need to be separate course codes if the class and the lab are listed as separate courses in your class schedule and will subsequently be separate courses in your transcripts.

I've got at least another year before I graduate with my BS in Microbiology but UCSD doesn't have anatomy or a human physio lab. I really like UCSF's MEPN program but I noticed on their website that Lab classes have to have a different course code from the Lecture class. Most CC's i've encountered and that are accessible to me combine Lab and Lecture.
For those who have applied to UCSF MEPN or plan to, what have you done?
