UCSD New Grad July Program

Thanks for starting a new thread! A lot of people are commenting about the UCSD New Grad Program on another thread so Im glad there is a thread dedicated specifically to the UCSD 2011 July cohort. I spoke to the nurse recruiter earlier today so I wanted to give an update on the situation. I also posted this same information on the "California 2011 New Grad Program" thread as well. The nurse recruiter informed me that there are about 30 internal applicants that are being considered first and if they do not fill all the new grad spots then they will look at external candidates. She informed me that this process will take approximately 3-4 weeks. So everyone who applied who is an external candidate, put your "patient caps" on because it seems like this is going to take some time :uhoh3: . Oh she also informed that depending on the new grad position you applied for, each department may have a different start start date, anywhere from the end of June to the beginning of August.

What units did you guys apply to?

I applied only to Burn. :nurse: Burn care is smelly, dirty, physically and emotionally painful for the patients, and it's very labor intensive. I'm holding onto the glimmer of hope that nobody else will want to be a burn nurse... :heartbeat

My status changed to "transferred to hiring dept" on 5/24 which I thought was a good sign but haven't heard anything since. Keeping my fingers crossed & hoping for the best. I applied for the tele unit :)
