Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone! I applied to the surgical ICU new grad RN position at UCSD Med Center for April/May 2018. Did anyone else and if so, what does your application status say? Mine says referred to hiring department 3/28.

Thanks!

Jenna

I applied for IMU and status has remained "referred to hiring" since 5/11. I got my nursing license number a week ago and called HR to make an update. They said that I cannot update my application, however they made a note that I received my license. Is this the right way to do it? thank u.

Hi, is this for the new grad July 2018? Because I saw a lot of you applying in mid May

I'm still waiting for the July 18 one as well!

Hi angelRN90,

I am a current nursing student at University of Rochester and plan on applying to the NICU at UCSD for the January 2019 start date. Do you have any advice on the application process or things that you believe made you stick out? Do you have any prior healthcare experience? Any information would be more than helpful. Thank you!

@harakeli When I got my CA license I emailed to update my applications for Med/surg and IMU but they said the same thing to me, that they made a note in my file but I wasn't able to update my applicate. Has anyone heard about IMU interviews?

Hi all! I am applying for the October start date and I would love to hear some updates. How are you finding the New Grad program? Was their anything you wish you had done differently with your application? Thanks :)

I've applied to multiple open New Grad positions (7+) and all of them have been "others more competitive" after being referred to the hiring department. And I have everything they are looking for on the "preferred" and "required" qualifications and more. I even emailed a recruiter to hopefully get some insight on what I am missing and basically all she said was "its very competitive"...so that sucked. I don't know what to change to be more competitive.

@SerbGrad, I have run into the same as you and haven't gotten any call backs for interviews. My suggestion would be to try a different route and get some experience outside of the hospital first, even if it isn't ideal (financially I have to get started ya know!) I decided to not take the hospital route right now and check out SNFs and clinics and get started that way.

@angelRN90 Hi! This is a long shot but I'm wondering if you still work in the NICU at UCSD, and if you know whether or not they are hiring new grads this year. Thank you!
