hello everyone - my name's melissa and i'm currently a nursing student at the university of akron in akron, ohio. i have family in CT (new britain and bristol to be exact!) and due to a recent family death (my father recently passed away from pancreatic cancer) and for a variety of other reasons, there's a good chance that i'll relocate to CT. i heard that UConn's nursing program is excellent, but i wanted to hear your guys' opinions. thank you! :)

I am sorry to hear about your father.
I don't know much about UCONN's program except that they have a long waiting list. Sorry

Hi! I'm a UCONN nursing student. It's a great school and there's no waiting list that I'm aware of.The trick to get in quick is to apply for the MSN program. The person you want to speak with to get you started is ***** Assistant Professor of the School of Nursing program. 860-405-9061 or *****, Professor of the School of Nursing 860-486-3137. Hope this helps you.

When you say that the trick to get in to UCONN is to apply for the MSN program, do you mean after you get your bachelor's degree in another program?
I'm curious to why this is. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

They have a Master's entry into Nursing which is faster then the traditional bachelor's. But yes it does require a Bachelor's degree you could probably go on the website and check current requirements. The reason is less people apply to the Master's program since many just want the BSN not to mention is saves money.
