The deadline for UCO's traditional RN program for Spring 2017 is coming up on September 9th! I have seen posts in the past of students connecting, so I thought I would give it a shot. :) Acceptance letters, I was told, should go out around Thanksgiving.
About Me: I took my TEAS yesterday and made a 76%. I had hoped to do better, but I admittedly did not study like I should have! I have a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.95 overall. I will be sending off my application in the next couple of weeks after I get my transcripts from my summer class. I believe the average TEAS for the last semester of accepted UCO students was 79% (the nursing advisor has a sheet of all the averages of TEAS tests, GPA's, etc. -- just FYI!)
Hopefully some more fellow applicants will come along this post!
I am unable to go to the November 18th meeting. Would anyone be able to pick up extra handouts or email me a copy/picture of them? I spoke to the lady at the front desk in the nursing office today and she said it's mostly just going over uniform, enrollment, etc. I hate that I have to miss it, but I have an obligation that day that I absolutely can't break.
Thanks! :)
That would be awesome -- thank you so much! I will see if I PM you my contact info.
Re: enrollment, from what I understood is that they have to manually add the people to be able to enroll in Fundamentals. Because of that, they usually wait until close to the November 18th deadline to do so. Somehow I never realized the program is 5 semesters vs. 4. The only class they have listed on the curriculum that I haven't taken is Fundamentals. I am worried what else I will do since that's only 7 hours!
I'm eager to hear about uniform brand and the exact color we need. November and December are crazy months for me, so I am knocking off as much as I can ASAP. Do you have your CPR certification already?
They leave the first semester a bit open in case you have some prerequisites left to take, but the people that I've seen in Fundamentals all seem plenty busy. I work part time now and I plan to keep working a little bit during the first semester and through the summer until things get really busy during the second semester.
I want to have the majority of these things done before the holidays, so I am going to a CPR class this Friday and started my rounds of TB testing this week.
I work full time right now until December. I wasn't planning on working during the first semester but if I'm only taking 7 hrs I may try to work part time too.
I'm doing my CPR next Wednesday and doing all my titers, PPD, and get my flu shot next week. I don't have my immunization records, so I have to get all that.
Congrats, means!! I bet that wait was awful! It will be worth it though!
I had been wondering about enrollment as well so I emailed our advisor and she said to keep checking, they should it open it up and day now. I will also be going to the meeting on the 18th as well so let me know if anyone needs anything! Getting everything ready for next semester is getting exciting :) I could have sworn a year ago when I first spoke to the nursing advisor that it was a 5 semester program but that one of those semesters was a summer? either way I will only be able to take 7 hours as well, I thought about looking for a job as a nurse tech since I will have more time. Are any of you ladies currently working in a hospital setting?
I looked it up and it said that private messages are limited to users with 15 posts. If you look on the list of recipients from the email informing us that the acceptance letters were sent, my school email should be easy to locate.. it is the same as this user name. Send me an email on that and I will send you copies of all of the papers we received.
They went over things like SNA, what textbooks we need to buy, faculty introductions, how to look during labs and clinicals, enrollment... Lots of things! One of the things I'll send to you is an agenda that will tell you everything we talked about, so if you have any specific questions I can answer them.
Enrollment opens up this Monday morning. They didn't give a specific time.
