UCO nursing school

Just wanted to let everyone who may be interested that UCO is now accepting applicants for both the fall and spring semesters. I was talking to my advisor today and she said they should be accepting about 60 students per semester--120 students a year. They used to only accept about 80 per year with a little over 200 applying each year.

I'm a junior nursing student at UCO and have had nothing but a good experience there so far.

UCO also has the LPN-RN program.

I was wondering how long is the rn program there at uco? I trying to decide where to go .

I'm a UCO grad. I loved the program. I went through the career ladder program, tested out of the entire Junior year and would recommend the program to any nurse who is serious about getting a GREAT education! :)

I graduated from UCO in 2005. WONDERFUL program, and I can tell you that now, after working for almost 2 yrs in Med-Surg. Compared to my fellow coworkers that graduated the same time I did from other schools, I caught on super fast and felt and appeared very prepared. I highly recommend UCO's nursing school.

I was just accepted to UCO's nursing program. I just want to ask those who were/are in the UCO nursing program how it went for you. A lot of people are saying that you won't have a life as soon as you start nursing school. How are the professors? the curriculum in general?

Thanks!

I just finished my junior year in UCO's nursing program and I really liked it! Ms Arnold is the BEST professor in the program---everyone loved her :) You can email me if you want more detail about the program and professors, who to avoid, what to expect your first year, etc.

And I had a social life, I personally don't think nursing school is that hard. I find the grades I made in nursing school were comparable to the grades I made in pre-reqs (As and Bs). I think if you have a good foundation coming into the program you will do just fine!

PM or email me if you want to!

Thank you! I've heard a lot of people who really like the nursing program of UCO. I work in a hospital and our clinical manager as well as some of our nurses graduated from UCO and they said it's a really good program.

Quick question, how many hrs would you say (per week) were in you class and how many days of the week were you in clinicals?

I live in Tulsa, and thinking about applying to UCO's spring '08 BSN program but the distance may be a hassle with commuting.

Junior year we had classes 2 days a week and clinicals 12 hours a week (OB was a 12 hour shifts, the others were broken up into 4 and then 8 hrs the next day--so 2 days total). Some days we had class in the am and then clinical in the pm the same day so that might be something you can request. So junior year you will have either class or clinical 3-4 days a week on average.

Senior year clinical time is much much more though with less classroom time.

Good luck finding something that works for you :)

Thank you so so much!
