UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022

Published

Hi guys! The application for UCLA's new grad program is opening up soon so I created this for us to connect and post updates ?

Hi,

I applied to med-surg and got an interview invite about 2 weeks ago for NW (orthopedic) unit Santa Monica. I think each different Med-Surg unit has a different hiring manager and are sending invites out randomly so don’t give up hope :)

Thanks for the info. It’s really hard not to give up hope to be honest especially cause I haven’t been given a straight answer. It’s still under review but it’s been so long and with interviews being held in two weeks makes me wanna give up more. It’s my dream hospital to work there.

How do you know who to email? I’m thinking about sending one to check in since I’ve been in review for a month- but want to email the right person

This is a silly question, but the interview times are in PST right? I'm not on the West Coast right now, so I just want to check and do the math haha.

If anyone interviewed already, did they tell you when you would hear back or did they just say the June 10 date?

My unit manager said they're conducting interviews this whole week and they'll have a decision by next week. They send their decision to HR, but they're not in charge of when HR notifies people. It's possible they could do it all at once at the end in June, but they try to nudge them to notify people as soon as possible.

How was your interview? Mine is coming up and I don't know what to expect.

Pretty good, it was very chill and the managers were super nice. All behavioral/personality questions, no clinical. My best advice is do your research! Go through past allnurses threads, glassdoor, and facebook. You might be able to find interview questions that were specific to your unit. I also reached out to some people who received offers on my unit but I never got responses. Doesn't hurt to try though!

I’m glad to hear the med surg people got interviews. I just took my NCLEX today and did the Pearson trick and got the good pop up. I’m bummed but more at ease knowing that they didn’t consider me. It’s been driving me crazy and it seems like interviews are wrapping up and if we didn’t get an invite pretty much means we are out of the running even tho no my app is still under review.
