UCH--good place to work?

I am getting burnt out by bad management and low paying hospitals. The place I currently work has one of the lowest pays in the Denver area, with horrible insurance to boot (high deductibles and out of pocket maximums). I have worked at hospitals with horrible management--layoffs, mismanagement of money, poor staffing.

I want to find a hospital that treats their nurses well. I want to find a hospital and stay there for awhile, where I have the support to be a good nurse. Someplace where I don't have to work extra shifts because my doctor's bills are outrageous. I hear that UCH is a great place to work. Can anyone tell me what it's like? What are the benefits like--do they offer good insurance? Anything you can tell me would be great :)

Yes, it's a very good place to work, IMO. Benefits are decent (not fabulous, not horrible). Medical is through Kaiser or through the university plan (I took Kaiser, so not familiar with the university plan). For family coverage, I think I paid around $180 every two weeks? It's been a while, so I don't totally remember (I still work at UCH, but am not an employee of the facility, so my benefits are through a different organization now).

They have really good benefits for continuing education, both tuition reimbursement, as well as things like certification costs or if you want to go to a conference somewhere (you have a set amount per year for things like conferences, and you can actually use that amount to spend on airfare if the conference is somewhere else). That was one thing that really impressed me about the organization - they really put a lot of emphasis on continuing education and furthering your training and education. Also, the residents tend to be very knowledgeable and put a huge emphasis on evidence-based practice. I found that quite refreshing, after coming from a community hospital where the docs did things just because that's how they were taught 15 years ago, in spite of the fact that it's not evidence-based.

Anyway, I have nothing bad to say about the organization. I think as a whole, it's a top-notch organization, and I am always proud to say I work at UCH when asked where I work.
