UCF Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN

Published

Is anyone else applying to the Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN cohort at the University of Central Florida? It seems like it is taking forever for the actual application to open up (January 1).

Hoping to see some other folks just as excited as I am!!

Thanks!! :) My pre-req GPA is a little lower but our other two are very close. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Did anyone hear back from the student loan yet? Omg the wait is killing me... does anybody know when we are going to head back from school?

I haven't heard back from financial aid either. Nothing is showing up in financial aid on my.ucf. And it's also been pretty hectic looking for an apartment to move in so quickly before the start of classes.

How is everyone getting along with all the documents we need to submit? I think i'm about half way done but still a lot I need to submit. I also just signed up for the BLS class on April 23rd at UCF. Let me know if any of you are going!

I heard that we won't hear back from financial office until class begins. If we want more information regarding our financial aid we can go to the financial office to consult. As for the CPR class I signed up for May 3rd since that's the most convenient day for me.

Looking for apartment is not easy, have you found one yet?

For the required documents, I only get MMR and Heptitis B done. But I have scheduled other appointments recordingly.

Ah, that's pretty inconvenient. I'll ask more about financial aid during the meet & greet on friday.

And i've found a couple of apartments that i'm interested in, but haven't decided yet. I currently live in Tampa so it's a hassle to drive all the way to Orlando to look at apartments. I know I can't afford to be picky at this point because I only have a month left lol. How's your living situation going? Looking for an apartment as well?

Haha sometimes you gotta travel so you can make sure if that's the one you want.. me personally don't trust any type of pictures lol. Me and my family live in Orlando the whole time so I don't have to worry about finding an apartment

I am relocating from Brevard and I did a lot of zillow midnight searching and thank goodness found a condo that was just listed, made an apt the next day, and signed the lease lol! Let me know if you need any help! We looked at quite a few places so they are pretty fresh in my head lol. PM me on here or if you are on the fb page my name on there is Steph Marie :)

Hi guys! Congratulation to you all on your acceptance to the program!

I have read each comment in this thread and have a few questions to you. Looking for an advice. I would like to apply to the same program but in a couple of years, by God's grace if everything goes well. I received my bachelor in 2010 and looking to change a career. My first education from oversees but I am green card holder, applying for citizenship in a couple of weeks. My GPA from first bachelor was 3.98. I haven't started pre-requisites yet. Planning to take 2 (two) pre-req per semester in order to be finished in one year, starting at fall semester. I hope I will have enough time to study for classes while I am working.

Question I have what your suggestions and word of advice to me since I have so much time before applying. Anything you would suggest specifically to work on, do or take?

Regarding Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship, is this based on need scholarship or it is academic scholarship? For those who applied and got it or who denied. Any word of advice would you give me? Anything I can do to improve or increase my chances to receive this scholarship?

Last question I have I took Statistics in 2010 as part of my bachelor degree, got "A" but should I retake it? As I said I graduated in 2010, long time ago and when I will be applying it will be 10 years since I took Statistics class.

Thank you very much guys and good luck with your new journey!

Hey everyone, good luck to those waitlisted, and congrats to those who got into the program!

I am so excited to be a part of this cohort! I'm an orlando resident who grew up here, so if you have questions about the area and/or you want relocation advice I'd be glad to give it. The further you live from UCF the cheaper it'll be, but you don't want to live too far because traffic can be miserable.

I talked to the financial aid office: we will receive loan offers 7-10 business days after registering for our classes, which we can do after our transfer orientation.

I'm excited to meet you all! You can reach me on FB, my name is Erin Degler

I got accepted and I had 3.3 undergraduate gpa, 90 TEAS, 4.0 gpa science prerequisite, 3.8 nonscience gpa prerequisite. Your undergraduate gpa is really good. For the TEAS test, just buy a study book and study for it a lot. Also take it more than once, I think you can only take it 3 times in a year. You will usually get a higher grade the next time you take it, I got 87 first then 2nd time I got a 90. Try and get A's in your prerequisite classes, some people take it at seminole state or valencia college because it's usually cheaper and easier. The best thing to do for sure is speak to a nursing advisor at UCF, you can make an appointment online with one of them and they will help you a lot. I applied for the scholarship but didn't get it, I felt my essay could have been kind of generic so maybe if something stood out to make it different from everyone else's essay would have helped. I don't think you should retake statistics, you already took it and got an A, also I took statistics a long time ago too, maybe the same year, 2010 and I haven't had to use any in depth statistics in the prerequisites.

Hey Erin, nice to meet you!

For the financial aid, I looked at my ucf account and only found out that I have information for fall 2018 and spring 2019. I was wondering how come they don't have any information regarding summer 2018? Is yours the same? Thanks.

Fiona
