UCF accelerated nursing program

Published

Hello! I'm waiting to hear back from UCF. I applied for the 2nd degree accelerated program. I'm very nervous about getting my letter in the mail. I've finished all my pre-reqs with A's and B's and I have a good overall GPA so I think I have a shot. It's just not very encouraging knowing that there are 300 applicants and only 50 seats. They told me during the interview that they would try to get back to us by the end of Feb. but it could be by mid March. Is there anyone else out there trying to get into this program at UCF?

I'm waiting to hear back too! And in the info session I attended, they said 60 spots, not 50, so that's 10 more chances you can hope for! On another thread, a current student in that program said acceptance letters went out by spring break last year(which makes sense). I'm a bit concerned about the number of applicants, but I'm hoping that there are not over 250 with fully completed applications, and that maybe there are some disqualifying factors for the others. Just trying to keep hope alive! :D

It's awesome to find someone else trying to get into the program! I went to the first interview session where Connie Washam spoke. She said they were aiming for the end of Feb. with the letters and I really hope they do. The sooner the better so we know what to do with our lives. lol. What was your first degree in? I graduated from FSU in 07' with an art degree. They'll probably wonder why someone would make such a drastic change in their career goals. lol. I actually thought about nursing when I first started college then changed my mind since I've always been very into art.

An art degree sounds fun! I took a sculpture class my last semester and it was fantastic even though I put in more hours for that class than any other! I did not enjoy art history though...

I graduated from Rollins with a BA in psychology in 2007. I had taken time off of school (I used to go to school up north) and transferred to Rollins to finish up my degree. Realized I really didn't want to go to grad school for psych, and since I've always been interested in medicine, decided to go to nursing school. I feel like I've been in school forever!

Anyway, it's nice to know I'm not the only one here waiting to find out about ucf. I guess we will found out in the next two weeks or so. Crazy!

Rollins is a great school. I live very close to it. With you - can't stand the anticipation! I'll keep you posted! Good luck :)

Has anybody heard from UCF yet?

Yes I got my letter yesterday!

Congrats on your letter! I'm down at USF in Tampa, where they only accept 24 applicants. It's ridiculous! I'm still taking pre-reqs, but I'll consider applying for the accelerated program at UCF now.

It's also encouraging to see other people who had totally different majors. I'm graduating with a journalism degree in May, but have already decided to make the switch to nursing in the summer. Keep us posted on what UCF is like. I'd be curious to know!

Thank you! Wow 24 seats is insane! I was like you, during my last semester at FSU I had made up my mind about going into nursing. I started my pre-reqs the next summer. I'll keep you posted about how the program goes. It starts May 18th. I'm so excited!

I am currently finishing up my pre-reqs and planning on applying for UCF's summer 2010-2011 accelerated program. Would anyone who was accepted care to share their GPA or other info? My GPA for my first bachelors was around a 3.45 and I have a 4.0 so far on all my pre-reqs with 2 classes left to take, bringing my overall GPA to almost a 3.6. I'm hoping my grades are good enough and would love any input! Thanks!
