Hi! Just wondering if anyone else received acceptance/waitlist letters for UCCS's (in Colorado Springs) accelerated BSN program starting in May 2020. Hoping to meet some classmates before it starts! If anyone is currently in the program or has attended in the past, I'd love to hear any feedback or advice as well! ?

Hi! I'm so glad you started this thread! I've been accepted into the UCCS May 2020 program as well! I'm super excited and really looking forward to getting to meet everyone. ?

It would be awesome to meet up before school starts! Has anyone else worked in healthcare before? I've been an EMT for 3 years in hospital and pre-hospital settings. One of my current EMT coworkers was also accepted into this program!

Would you all be interested if I started a facebook group to meet everyone and then to make study groups and such throughout the semester?

Hello! Just found this thread- I was also accepted into the program starting in May! I just hope that my USAirForce husband gets us relocated to Colorado... Crossing my fingers!!! I'm definitely interested in the FB group & was thinking of starting one myself!
I don't have any medical background, but I have been in dental for around 12 years & I'm currently a dental hygienist.

I bet your dental background will still help a lot with patient interactions and such! ?

I got the facebook group started. Here's the link:

I have a medical technologist license and I got my EMT through the Army. Still nervous though. I heard the program is intense. Would you all keep your job at least part time? You think it’s doable?

Wow an EMT? You’ll be awesome!!
I worked as an MA in derm ten years ago in college. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I then was a special ed teacher for 2 years and have been a stay at home mom for 5 years. I’m terrified but so excited!!! When I went to the info session last year the panel of current students said someone managed to keep a full time job but it was really intense. All of the teachers said you shouldn’t plan on working. It’s so hard to know.

I joined the Facebook group! Thanks!

That’s exactly why I’m nervous, cos it’s been years since I went to school! ? I’m excited too, I just want to start already. Did you all finish the requirements? Register for My clinicalexchange?

Specializes in I hope to advance to PMHNP.

So... I'm feeling like a fool. I am in the accelerated BSN at CSU Pueblo, not UCCS in Colorado Springs. Best of luck to all of you ladies at UCCS!

RDHtoRN-good luck with your program, too ?

I currently work full time in the emergency room as an EMT and part-time at a fire department. My plan is to just be part-time at the hospital during the program (two 12 hour shifts a week). I work with two girls who just finished this program, and one didn't work, and one had a part-time job!

I got registration for myclinicalexchange done, but I haven't started uploading yet! The 4 step TB test is going to be a process lol. I need to get my FAFSA done as well!

What about you all? What are your first Bachelor's degrees in?

My degree is in Clinical lab science. I will probably work part time as well when school starts. I don’t even have a username id yet so I can’t register for Myclinicalexchange. For the TB, I got the IGRA blood test, it’s more convenient. I got the confirmation that the blood test is ok.
