UC Davis Nurse Residency Program - Spring 2022

Published

Hi,

I am planning to apply to the UC Davis nurse residency program this coming November. Just getting prepared for the application period and did not see a forum for this coming period.

If you have any helpful hints or questions, let's answer them here!! Application open from November 1st - November 8th. Start dates March 14th - May 9th.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has heard back after they interviewed. They were so vague on when I would hear back when I interviewed for float pool so I am curious if they have started reaching out to people.

Yeah same! No word for me yet. I hope they let us know by this week or next. They did say that there would an internship opportunity this month before the actual residency starts in March. So I feel like they have to let us know soon! Wishing everyone good luck ❤️

For people who have already interviewed, did you guys bring any "portfolio" materials with you. In the email they sent me with all the info about the interview they said that we could bring a portfolio but I am not entirely sure what that would consist of minus maybe some letters of recommendation.

Oh, I never heard of that! For me, a portfolio was not mentioned at all. I brought nothing but my computer (cause it was an online meeting) and myself to the interview. Maybe it's the unit you're interviewing with that is asking for that. I interviewed for float pool.

I did bring one just in case for my in-person interview. They did not tell me to bring one when they scheduled me for the interview though LOL. For my portfolio, I included my resume, cover letter, letters of rec, transcript, certifications, nursing diploma, RN license. You can always add or more less depending on what you have. I would Google or watch YT vids about this--there is so much info out there! Hope this helps.

Those who have already interviewed, what were some of the questions they asked?

What units are interviewing in person vs online? I interviewed online for float so far.

Oncology was in person. Womens health and NICU were online. That's all I know about right now.

Trauma (medsurg-tele) will be in person.

Has anyone interviewed with cardiac unit?

I got accepted an offer for a position in their birthing unit for labor and delivery/postpartum! Any one else? ?

For those who interviewed, did you receive an e-mail for referrals?
