UC Davis Medical Center RN Residency Summer 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey New Grads! I just wanted to start a post about the upcoming New Grad RN program at UC Davis. I thought it would be nice, and anxiety calming, to start a thread to share about the application process. I just finished my application. I was surprised there were no supplemental questions to fill out. Anyways, Good luck to everyone!

Oh yeah, Anyone else apply for previous cohorts? Maybe you could share some insight into the process. I'm hoping for a transplant position, I LOVE transplant nursing. I spent 2 rotations on a transplant unit in school in Colorado and LOVED it.

PICU has already made their choice.. I called HR and they said that the two have been selected.

Hello all, I was lucky enough to get a spot. For those of you who are in the same boat, have you heard anything RE health benefits? The job starts the day after my 26th birthday, and I'm still on my parents' plan, so I'm definitely curious! Also, has anybody received an offer letter? I have the paperwork for my health appt on the 27th, but no actual offer letter outlining the job/salary. I know what the salary is, but I'd like the letter as I'm trying to borrow a little money to buy a used car and a letter would probably give me a little more legitimacy.

Thanks!

Congrats! What unit did you get an offer?

I have not received an official letter and I'm not sure if we do.

Trauma Nursing Unit. I wonder if I contact Nurse Recruitment they might be able to send me something? I really need to get a car before the 27th, when I sign paperwork, and it would very much help my case ;)

Are you on Ortho? Have you heard much about how the first month or so will go down? I only ask this because I am constantly asked about the new job by friends and family. Personally I'm usually too excited to care but sometimes I'm a little curious myself.

Sure lets talk privately email me, I believe my email is in the previous posts.

The actual offer letter will be given to you when you meet with the nurse recruiter to sign all your paperwork, which should be the same day you do your physical exam. Congrats!!!

I have an interview in an ICU this week. For those hired, how long did did it take from when you interviewed to when you were offered a job?

Depends on the unit and if you make it to the next step which is skills survey, then after that it depends how fast all the skills surveys are received from all top candidates

farghost, how was your interview? can I ask which unit you were interviewed for?

I was also lucky enough to get a spot. I signed my new hire paperwork yesterday and that's when they give you your letter. He also said that you are covered from the first day of work which is July 8th and you have 30 days to enroll.

RNSAC, I got the job! I don't want to say which exact unit, but its an ICU. I'm excited to get started!

congrats to all who got a job! For those of us who may be applying next year, any advice? What is the skill survey exactly? Thanks!
