UC Davis DNP-FNP

Hi! Anyone applied to the 2023 UC Davis DNP-FNP program? I submitted my application January 10th. I'm eager to know if others have heard about this program? Admissions rates? Etc

I also was accepted, I have a coworker in the first cohort and she works full time with no issue. Don't know how it will be for the other 2 years.

I was able to get in contact with a current student there who told me a number of people have left the inaugural cohort because it is completely disorganized. The person I spoke to had to drop to per diem and said for the next year with clinical rotations that they should be flexible with scheduling (at work) since no one in sure where they will be placed. She also told me that the current work load is 1x a week class, 10-12 assignments a week, lot of group work and reading. Also looks like they had to have their clinical semester this June pushed out until January. Unfortunately, I have to put in my schedule a month or so in advance and cannot change it easily.

?

how can I get a hold of any of the students in the program to ask them a few questions? This is such a life changing decision that I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Huh that is interesting the two people we talked to have two very different experiences. I heard that at one point the cohort felt they had too many assignments, informed the SoN, then the school accommodated the students. My coworker is working full time with ease and does not have a very accommodating schedule. If you look at the DNP/FNP road map they provided during the webinar the clinical doesnt start until year 2, Winter semester.

In the webinar the school said we can email so we can get in touch with current students. I think I will do that as well to see other student's perspective on the experience. ?

Does anyone know if the school provides the clinical placement/preceptors for the students? (many schools make the students responsible for finding their own)

They do provide placement, but the current cohort has not been placed yet for them.

I think initially they would have started under Summer semester Year 2 for clinical placements but SON most likely has changed it since they admitted the students.

Your friend must be an great student because even that workload sounds daunting to me, especially with how students she told me have dropped.

Hi there,

UCD is still taking applications.  I need to keep working my 8hr shifts x4. I am worried about the workload while working.

Did anyone accept or decline their offer due to their worry about this?

THANK YOU! Life changing decision and I am concerned about making a bad decision.
