What was you guys GPA when admitted to UAB nursing program? I've been talking to the admission counselor and she stated they like for you to have 3.0 to be competitive. She said at UAB the decisions are not based solely on GPAs but the overall application package. I just want to hear from students who have been admitted to UAB in regards to this. Thank you....the last couple of posts I've posted I haven't received a reply, please help a guy out!

you will get a better response if you either:
1. spell out what/where is UAB
2. post your inquiry in the local forum-click on region tab above, united states, and appropriate states.

Hi,
I didnt get my BSN from UAB, but I am in the MSN program there. If you wander around the Alabama nurses forum, you may find your answer. Just as a general note....... they will most likely want you to have a 3.0 I know that their website says 2.75, however, most applicants have at least a 3.0, and those who actually are accepted have a higher GPA.
As for the overall application.... they look at your GPA, your past experience, your references if you have any..... your extracurricular activities...etc.

OK....that's what someone else told me, I have a 3.29 in my nursing foundation courses; however, that's not all the required courses...I have Micro, Statistics, and Biology left to take and I will be taking them this fall at a community college. I'm not worried about them because anyone can do great if their mind and heart is in it. BUT because I don't have those courses completed they won't be calculated into the GPA so YES I stand at a 3.29. Also, the advisor told they like for their nursing students to atleast be a 3.0 to be competitive. Also, I have over a 1000+ in healthcare experience....so I'm really hoping to get in.
