UAB MSN Summer 2016 Hopefuls!

Published

Hi everyone! I am a student in UAB's RN-BSN program and in my final semester. I applied to the FNP program for Summer 2016 entry. I'd love to meet with other MSN Hopefuls for entry in this semester! Good luck and hope to find some folks to endure this stressful wait until decisions are made!

So I was looking through the Blazernet site and found this in the FAQ:

"To get a BlazerID, you must be associated with UAB as a past, present, or incoming employee or student (students who last attended before 1982 may not be in the computer records). If you are not (or have not been) affiliated with UAB as an employee or student, then you cannot get a BlazerID; there are no exceptions to this rule."

So it looks very promising!!! Trying not to get a head of my self so I'm still "patiently" waiting for the acceptance or denial letter.

Did you create a blazernet id? It does feel promising! I am impatiently waiting!

I agree. But I do feel like it will work out. It feels right. UAB feels like my home for the next few years!

I created an ID Friday and have been checking the login periodically but I'm still just getting the error message. UAB is my 1st choice of grad schools. it's got a great reputation and it's really affordable. I applied for the dual primary/acute PNP programs so here's hoping!

My number one choice too!! They are very high up in the national rankings!!

So my baby woke me up like an hour ago and I haven't been able to fall back a sleep so I've been doing a bit more digging. According to a post on this site for summer of 2014 anyone who applies is able to register for a blazernet ID and about three people who did ended up getting rejection letters. So now I'm right back to square one. I was really hoping the ID thing was a good sign but guess it's not.

Ok so this type A personality is going to be the death of me! Anyway, I decided to send an email to get clarification on the Blazernet ID once and for all so I will let you know when I hear back. I also emailed Mr. Updegraff for a update on decisions letters and this is what he said:

"It should be within 2 weeks that letters go out and most everyone should know before the holidays"

Oh nooo. My little glimmer of hope is dim. Haha. Please do update what you find out. I called IT that directed me to One stop. They just said its in pre-stage or something. That my application was complete.

I basically heard the same. Anyone who has a completed application is able to register for an ID. The lady I spoke with said being able to get an ID is in no way related to acceptance into UAB which is why we can't log in yet. She also said we have to be officially accepted and confirmed by the SON. I asked how soon after SON makes their final decisions would we be able to log on. Her response was that as soon as the SON send them all the final paper work we would gain access with in 24-48 hrs. She said that could happen before the acceptance letters are received or at the same time as the letters arrival. So I guess we have to wait and see. Not feeling all that confident at this point but still keeping hope alive.

Yeah it all makes sense. It seems last year they began seeing changes on blazernet before letters were mailed out.

So at work today I was talking with a fellow co-worker who is currently attending UAB's dual PNP program. She said she was able to start logging in just roughly a week and a half before she got her acceptance packet which is not what I wanted to hear. I figure they will be mailing out letters either the end of this week or the beginning of the next due to Christmas break being the following week. I was already doubtful because my GPA wasn't the strongest (I have 3.5 overall and 3.4 nursing) I think I'm gonna start looking into my backup plans cause UAB is looking increasingly unlikely. Good luck ladies and gents!!

The threads from previous years they were able to login less than a week. Besides this is a different year. We are using CAS and they now have rolling admissions. I was already thinking we shouldn't try to compare apples to apples. Let's just relax and see what the next week or so brings. (Ha - right). Gpa is one factor. I think the letter is more important at long as minimum guidelines are met. Your writing ability shows a lot to how you will succeed online. I really feel they look at overall picture.

You are absolutely right I'm just a planner so I like for my backup plans to have backup plans LoL. Plus applying this go around was really last minute for me and I didnt even start the application until late September (before they extended the deadline). So although I feel I'm a strong candidate I think if I had I started earlier I would be more confident. In other news I got an email from a counselor at UAB who said applications were still under review for UAB's Graduate School and that you have to be admitted to both your program of study and the Graduate School. He also said emails would be sent out once you are accepted to the graduate school portion.
