UAB MSN fall 2017

Published

Anyone else apply to the fall '17 NP program at UAB? I'm getting antsy now that decision letters should (hopefully) be rolling out in the next few weeks, so let me know if you want to be anxious together. :)

Yes got my large envelope in the mail over the weekend!!!! :)

I did not get in, and to be honest I am stunned. I have almost 3 years experience in a psych hospital, before that I was in an ER, I have a 3.4 overall GPA and another non-nursing master's degree with a 3.8. I had a very strong essay and references including one from the CEO of the psych hospital where I work which is the largest inpatient facility in this state. Does UAB admit UAB grads and then in-state students first? That is the only thing I can think of, unless they went straight off GPA which is very short sighted IMO. I consider myself to be a very well-rounded candidate with a lot of life experience. This is disappointing to say the least. They told me to apply again for summer of '18, but I do not plan to apply to UAB again. Congrats to everyone who did get in.

I did not get in either. I was bummed the first 3 days, but now I am moving forward and trying to get my head around how I am not going to allow this small obstacle deter me from something that I really want to do. UAB is an amazing school. I graduated with my BSN from there and I also work there full time as an RN. I would strongly suggest applying again next Summer. Also, USA and Samford both have great MSN programs. My step-mother graduated from Walden University's (very popular MSN program) Nurse Educator program and she has encouraged me to pursue one of their MSN programs.

You sound like an AMAZING candidate and I am sure that you have more options than you realize. Best of luck to you!

Congrats to all of the candidates that were accepted.

I am having a hard time finding a lot of reviews from people that have gone through UAB's FNP program. I applied to the FNP/ Emergency and was accepted but have also been accepted into the dual role FNP/Acute at South AL. I plan to do ER obviously and that is why I chose these two programs. Everything on paper looks great but just want some first hand assessments of the program. If anyone could give me any insight into what they have heard about UAB I would appreciate it.

Hey. Does anyone know when we have to go down there for orientation?
