Anyone else apply to the fall '17 NP program at UAB? I'm getting antsy now that decision letters should (hopefully) be rolling out in the next few weeks, so let me know if you want to be anxious together. :)
I have been a nurse for 6 years, 4 in the ER and 2 in PACU. I had three strong references, one from my supervisor, one from an NP I work with and one from a PA I worked with in the ER. I feel like I had a strong essay. I had it proofread by an English/Creative Writing major and an MSN (nursing educator) prepared RN who is also currently in NP school. My GPA is a 3.8. I applied two years ago to UAB's family program and did not get accepted so don't give up!!
I did not get in, and to be honest I am stunned. I have almost 3 years experience in a psych hospital, before that I was in an ER, I have a 3.4 overall GPA and another non-nursing master's degree with a 3.8. I had a very strong essay and references including one from the CEO of the psych hospital where I work which is the largest inpatient facility in this state. Does UAB admit UAB grads and then in-state students first? That is the only thing I can think of, unless they went straight off GPA which is very short sighted IMO. I consider myself to be a very well-rounded candidate with a lot of life experience. This is disappointing to say the least. They told me to apply again for summer of '18, but I do not plan to apply to UAB again. Congrats to everyone who did get in.

Don't give up. Have you applied to other programs? I didn't get into UAB either, but I did get accepted to University of South Alabama MSN PMHNP program Fall 2017! I got in on my third try. U have great stats, you will get in somewhere! Wish you the best! Congrats to those who got accepted!

I am feeling disappointed too! I wonder if those accepted to the FNP are the only ones that have their blazer net updated. I was in the BSN program at UAB and I only see my former BSN information on blazer net .
