I am looking into UAB's FNP program, and I noticed that although it used to clearly state that because it was online, out of state students would be charged in state tuition, I don't see that on there anymore. Does any one recently enrolled know if this is still the case? Also, I was wondering if any one who is currently enrolled or already graduated can tell me about the financial aid available there. I noticed they have lots of scholarships available, but do most students get some sort of scholarship help and how much did you really end up paying out of pocket after everything? Any information on all the costs would be helpful. Thanks!

I am about to start my second semester at UAB and I live in Georgia. I take two classes at a time (between 6 and 7 hours) and the tuition costs have been between approximately $2600 and $3100 per semester. The tuition IS instate tuition plus a $200 fee/online class, so a total of $400 per semester. The semester that is $3100 is due to the fact that one of the classes had a lab fee of $170.

What are your feelings with regards to how the program is run. Is it pretty straightforward with regards to the stuff you study is the stuff you are tested on? Is it more tests or papers and assignments? I am applying for next year and would like some info... Have you found the staff and instructors helpful or do they take forever to acknowledge you exist?

I just applied to their ACNP program so I'm interested in the responses to these questions as well. I have a couple more:
Did you have to find your own clinical sites or do they have contracts/contacts in place?
Do you feel the program is heavily focused on theory or clinical practice/knowledge?

They don't advertise it much, but all online courses are at in-state tuition. But it is not guaranteed to stay that way. And only nursing online classes count, electives outside nursing are at full rate. Instate rates was approved for next year, and it will stay that way as long as there is a nursing shortage. (that is there reason for doing the instate rate)
