I was just accepted into the University of Alabama at Birmingham‘S DNP program for fall 2020. Anyone else??
Just my opinion, but I feel NNP is so much more critical than a primary PNP, and I have only worked NICU for a year (and been a nurse for a year), so I don’t feel that I would ever even be one bit comfortable with NNP until being a NICU nurse for at least 10 years. I also am wanting more of a clinic life job (more suitable to being a mom and raising a family), focusing on prevention of illness and developmental milestones for pediatrics.

I know I don’t want to be an NNP. I used to work maternal child float pool, so I worked PEDs, nicu, etc and sometime PEDS urgent care/ED, would see a fair amount of former patients come to urgent care and be readmitted. I feel like a fair amount of these folks fell through the cracks with education. I am not opposed to doing something like special infant care clinic, but am looking for an outpatient role. I feel like I am a good at education, rapport-building. Jeez, I sound like I’m in an interview ??
I definitely praise you for entering into NNP @Fost_leanne!! I just know I couldn’t endure it!
