UAB AMNP Summer 2009 Class

Has anyone out there applied for UAB's AMNP Program that starts in May 2009? If so, has anyone received any information on the status of their application?

I hope so! I have never lived in AL but I have some family in Hoover so I have visited often and love it. Did they send you a lot of information with the acceptance letter? Will you definitely be accepting?!

Just out of curiousness and nosiness...What have you all that are going to do the program been doing? Mostly because I almost applied and then at the last minute did not. I have decided just to do the inexpensive 5 semester ADN RN program at my local jr College so I can get working faster as a RN---then go to UAB if an when I decide I like nursing and want to go further. I have a BS and have been working in Pharmaceuticals

Magnolia, I have a BS in Business, but have worked at UAB in Public Health for almost 12 years. I was in the Jeff St night program for a while and decided to leave there, finishes my prereqs for UAB and apply. This will actually be my 3rd career. I'm an 'older' student. :-)

I have been working in the business sector for 16+ years. Most of my time has been spent in sales and marketing. I selected the AMNP program b/c I will be able to start working as a RN after I complete the first three semesters and take the NCLEX. When I start the MSN part of the program, I will be working as a nurse gaining much needed experirnce. If I opted for the traditional program UAB offered, I would have to wait until I finished the 5th semester b4 I took the NCLEX.

I'm very excited!! I live in Trussville about 20 miles from UAB. However, I work at UAB School of Public Health which is next door to the Nursing School. I started getting my vaccinations last week. I have had most of them but have to get the 2-step TB skin test and the 2nd MMR. I wish we could get a list of books so I could start looking online for used ones.
