Hi! I didn't come across a thread for the upcoming UAB AMNP program applicants so I decided to create one. I am still working on my application at this time. I'm super nervous because I don't have any patient care experience and my undergraduate GPA isn't great. I have a master's degree already in another field and my GPA there was pretty good. I'm working on getting some volunteer/shadowing experiences before submitting my application so fingers crossed!

Only what the previous cohorts allnurses forums said...be prepared for a panel and questions about why you want to be a nurse, difficulty of the program, finances, etc.
Have you started your personal goal statement?
Hey guys, congrats to all on getting and interview and hope ya'll get in. Does anyone know what happens after the RN part? I read in the 2019 forum that they are phasing out the MSN. So is the MSN option still applicable or is it an DNP now? Also, are seats reserved for AMNP students? Please let me know as the UAB website is not clear on what happens after. Thank you for your support.

From my understanding, (and I may be wrong) this is just what I took from the informational session, you are awarded a generalist entry-level MSN degree and are able to work as an RN. From there you can decide if you would like to continue on to become an APRN (NP, Nurse Educator, CRNA, etc.)
I had mine this week. The process was relaxing. They let you talk to the 3rd and 4th semester students. Give you a tour. Presentation no the curriculum. And the panel interview. Just be yourself and know how to answer basic Qs like strengths, weaknesses, give leadership examples, etc. No curve balls were thrown at me. My advice on parking is that dont pay the 7 dollars and get a free visitor pass from the parking authority
