Hi, I live in Anchorage and just took my pre entrance exam for 2 year RN. I scored a 108 on my exam??? I think that is just average? I know the another girl scored 136! I have a 3.41 GPA and all my pre reqs done. I may have 1 point for certificate/experience. Honestly do you think I am competitive and will get in? I am so worried!

Sorry if you already know all of this information on the points system, but if you don't, here you go! :)

When I talked to my nursing advisor at UAA, he said (generally) people with points of about 23 to 24 and above get in.

You get points for your pre-reqs. There are 10 pre-reqs and they are worth 1 point, except Human anatomy and physiology 1 and 2, and micro 240, which are all worth 2 each, so you can have a total of 13 points for pre-reqs. Since you have all ur pre-reqs done, you'll have all 13 points for that. Then you get points based of your PAX RN score. It is based off of 10% of your percentile, not you actual "answered correctly." It will tell you on the PAX website where you saw your score was 108 what your percentile is. For example, I had got a 140 on mine, which put me in the 98th percentile, which means I got 9.8 points for that. Then you get points for GPA, which is pretty straight forward. Your GPA of 3.41 gets you 3.41 points (that's why they say the 2 year is not as based on GPA.) Then you get 1 point for having a certificate, generally an LPN or CNA. I'm pretty sure the highest points you can have for the ranking system is 27.9

No problem, I spent forever researching and trying to find out all of that information before i finally just called the nursing school and asked and they told me, haha.

I just called the nursing department today and they will be sending out notifications to the applicants after the semester is over, in other words, next week.
