Typical time from interview to job offer?

Hello,

I guess I've been terribly spoiled, but I've always been offered a job either at the interview or immediately thereafter (sometimes unofficially until background, drug screen, etc). Anyway, I just interviewed at a union facility and was wondering how long it typically takes to get an offer? I realize that I may not even get a job offer. I wish I had asked this is the interview.

I just started a new job three weeks ago, and job hunting was a real eye-opener for me. I too was used to be offered a job immediately, but this time I applied for three jobs, had six interviews and one job offer came nine days later, another ten days later, and one rejection call wasn't made till six weeks later - like I'd still be waiting around!

Wow! How discouraging! I must have been spoiled before I moved here. If it takes 9 or 10 days for me to here, I'm afraid I will accept the position that has already been offered to me. Thank you for the input!!!!!

That's what happened to me. I was waiting, then accepted a job offer, thinking it didn't look good to have not heard back. The day after I'd accepted a job, got the call offering me the job I'd wanted.

If I had to do it over, think if I really wanted a particular job and I received another offer, I'd call and say I'd received an offer and wondered if they had made a decision yet. Wouldn't lose anything, and might get them moving a bit!
