. What was the score you got for those already admitted in nursing school. I obviously need to study up in A&P and retake but just wondering what y'all got in order to be admitted. The main school I want to go to (Texas A&M CC) doesn't publish what score they expect so I'm not 100% on how I should really feel about these scores.

That is the school I go to!!! I got a 92.76 cumulative. It says on my scoring report that my class average was 81. The only thing is I think my class was the last class admitted with the Hesi not being used as admission criteria. We had to take it but it didn't count for anything. The standard score may be higher now that it is actually used. idk but good luck getting in!!! :)

Thanks. So what's the nursing school like (course load, student teacher ratio, class requirements)? I graduated from there a couple of years ago with a BS in Microbiology, and while I was there I heard the nursing school was pretty good. The school in general was pretty nice also from what I recall.

Specializes in LTC/Rehab.

at our school is pretty much 90 and above.

I like the school and all but one of the instructors. The only reason I do not like one is because she went on this really offensive rant about rape. She said that rape is only a problem because little girls let little boys get so excited they just can't control themselves. If little girls were to act like ladies then rape wouldn't exist. (Total tangent, sorry. I still get angry thinking about it and wish I would have spoken up in class.) Other than that, it is not bad at all. I feel like the teachers are fair and the workload isn't too much. Most of your grade is based on the tests though, so people who are not good test takers struggle quite a bit. We have lost a surprising number of fellow students due to bad grades. My biggest complaint is the attendance policy. Attendance is taken and grades can be lowered for not showing up. It is annoying because most of the time the teacher is just reading off the power point. I don't have a problem with that, I can learn on my own, but why make me sit through a three hour class when I am going to have to teach myself anyway?

Hello everybody I getting ready to take my Hesi for the Nursing programs. Do anyone have any suggestions on what I need to study? What type of questions are on the the Hesi for A&P? C

willnightshade, sorry. I got so excited by my rant that I completely ignored your questions. My first semester, the big lecture classes had about 100 students but labs and clinical groups only have around 10 each. It looks like my lecture this summer is going to have 60 students and clinicals again have 10/instructor. Some of the classes, grades are based entirely upon exams. Care plans can be graded sometimes (fundamentals, OB) but other times (med surg, etc) they are pass/fail. Attendance is required, lol. You are luckier than I was. My first semester I had to take Fundamentals, Health Assessment, Therapeutic Communication, and Pharmacology. Now they made Pharm a prereq so you won't have to worry about that once you get in. Nursing classes require you to have at least a 75% average on your tests before any other work is considered or averaged in. You also have to get a 75 on care plans to be passing. I can't think of much else at the moment, but if you have other questions feel free to ask. When do you apply?

Thanks. Just one more quick question, what are clinical groups? Currently applying for the summer 2012 class since I have to wait until I get out of the army before I attend hat's not until next may.

Clinical groups are the group of people you will go to the clinical site with. There are too many people in a class for everyone to go to the same site at the same times so we are broken up into groups of 10 and sent out to different hospitals with different clinical instructors.

willnightshade...tamucc just started a new eline military program(elm). the elm is a great opportunity for veterans and active service members to earn a bachelors of nursing from texas a&m university - corpus christi. the elm is completely online and clinical hours can be completed at your location, meaning that as an elm student you never have to set foot on campus. what truly sets the elm apart from other programs it that we will evaluate your experience in the military and college credit will be awarded towards the bsn degree, ultimately helping you complete the degree faster and not having you repeat material that you learned in the military. eligible program participants will be able to access distance learning technologies to earn a bachelor's of nursing degree (bsn), be eligible to take the nclex, become a registered nurse (rn) and enter the health care workforce. to be eligible for the program you must be a texas resident and be either a veteran or active duty service member in the medical field. to apply to the nursing program you must first fill out an application for the university, complete the core curriculum and the nursing prerequisites listed below: anatomy & physiology i, anatomy & physiology ii, pathophysiology or health alterations, pharmacology, microbiology, statistics, lifespan, chemistry and general psychology. you may have completed some or all of the courses already, and your military experience could count towards some of these courses as well. the best way to get started is to email the program coordinator ( [email protected] ) unofficial copies of your academic and military transcripts for an initial review. there is more information available on their webpage: http://conhs.tamucc.edu/ .

Hi! I am applying for the summer 2012 semester as well... I take the Hesi on Oct. 15.. Have you taken yours yet? If so how was it? I am really nervous about it but I have a good GPA so hopefully that helps. Good luck!
