You will be also taking Therapeutic Communication. I didn't think the first semester was too bad. And when I started, we had to take Pharm along with the three other classes. I think the care plans are the worst part. Not because they are so hard but they are very time consuming. T.C. can either be okay or hellish depending upon which instructor you get. You will have labs for both Health Assessment and Fundamentals. You will have clinicals for fundamentals in the first semester at a nursing home or long term acute care. Good luck!!! And don't listen to them when they tell you to tell your family and friends good bye until Thanksgiving break. It is not nearly as tough as they make it out to be.

I am not sure what kind of information you are looking for, but I will give it a shot. For all classes (except Fundamentals) you need at least a 75% test average to pass the class. The grading criteria for nursing classes is: 90-100 A, 83-89 B, 75-82 C, and anything below a 75 is failing. The course work is not too bad at all, in my opinion. In fact, I wish it was harder. I am a slacker and will do the bare minimum in order to get an A and I don't feel like I have had to work hard at all thus far. For Fundamentals and Health Assessment (first semester) you will have lecture and labs. You will be broken up into groups of about 10, the groups will be different for each class, and have to go learn lab skills and for Fund. you will eventually go to clinicals at whatever hospital you are assigned to, whenever they tell you to. You must pass a med dosage test with a 90, before you will be allowed to go to the hospital setting. These tests are just basic math. You will need to complete care plans for patients in your clinical setting. They are annoying but the main thing to remember is don't leave anything blank. I don't understand students who don't fill out half of it and then wonder why they don't pass. The instructors are strict but fair. Attendance is required, greater than three absences can result in a lower letter grade. Um.. that is pretty much all I can think of at the moment. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Typical Hesi A2 score for those accepted
Clinical groups are the group of people you will go to the clinical site with. There are too many people in a class for everyone to go to the same site at the same times so we are broken up into groups of 10 and sent out to different hospitals with different clinical instructors.

willnightshade, sorry. I got so excited by my rant that I completely ignored your questions. My first semester, the big lecture classes had about 100 students but labs and clinical groups only have around 10 each. It looks like my lecture this summer is going to have 60 students and clinicals again have 10/instructor. Some of the classes, grades are based entirely upon exams. Care plans can be graded sometimes (fundamentals, OB) but other times (med surg, etc) they are pass/fail. Attendance is required, lol. You are luckier than I was. My first semester I had to take Fundamentals, Health Assessment, Therapeutic Communication, and Pharmacology. Now they made Pharm a prereq so you won't have to worry about that once you get in. Nursing classes require you to have at least a 75% average on your tests before any other work is considered or averaged in. You also have to get a 75 on care plans to be passing. I can't think of much else at the moment, but if you have other questions feel free to ask. When do you apply?

I like the school and all but one of the instructors. The only reason I do not like one is because she went on this really offensive rant about rape. She said that rape is only a problem because little girls let little boys get so excited they just can't control themselves. If little girls were to act like ladies then rape wouldn't exist. (Total tangent, sorry. I still get angry thinking about it and wish I would have spoken up in class.) Other than that, it is not bad at all. I feel like the teachers are fair and the workload isn't too much. Most of your grade is based on the tests though, so people who are not good test takers struggle quite a bit. We have lost a surprising number of fellow students due to bad grades. My biggest complaint is the attendance policy. Attendance is taken and grades can be lowered for not showing up. It is annoying because most of the time the teacher is just reading off the power point. I don't have a problem with that, I can learn on my own, but why make me sit through a three hour class when I am going to have to teach myself anyway?

That is the school I go to!!! I got a 92.76 cumulative. It says on my scoring report that my class average was 81. The only thing is I think my class was the last class admitted with the Hesi not being used as admission criteria. We had to take it but it didn't count for anything. The standard score may be higher now that it is actually used. idk but good luck getting in!!! :)

HESI exams
I love the hesi exams!! I think they are super easy. Even when I don't know the material, I can usually figure out the answer. Most of my classmates, however, really struggle with them. I hear a lot of complaining about how unfair it is that some of the material in the exams is not covered in lecture or in the textbook. I will agree that it sucks we have to pay for the first two exams but other than that I am happy with them.

HESI exams
I have read on here a lot about people who have to take entrance and exit Hesi tests or a hesi test on each course. At my school, after the first semester, all of our tests are hesi tests. We have to purchase the first two for each class and then the school pays for the second two. Does any other school do it like this? Thanks for any replies. :)
