Can someone tell me if Neurology Nurse is the same as Neuroscience Nurse?? I am a bit confused.

I truly want to study the nervous system; its disorders & diseases when I get my Master's.

Your comments will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!!

Specializes in M/S, MICU, CVICU, SICU, ER, Trauma, NICU.

Perhaps you shouldn't be so focused on getting your master's unless you know the difference.

Start with basic.

I just want to know the difference. thats all! I am not getting my Master's anytime soon, just want some answers.

Specializes in ED, OR, SAF, Corrections.

Neurolgy is more clinical practice based, neuroscience tends toward research (though not exclusively) which can be then be broken down into further into all the different neurosciences (neurobiology, neurochemistry, etc...) depending on what floats your boat.

Pretty much if you're looking to work in a particular dept in the hospital as a 'neuro' nurse, there isn't really a distinction. For example you might work in Neuro ICU or a Neuro pod in the OR, that kind of thing taking care of Neuro and Neuro/Spine patients. I currently work in the OR and am the Neuro service nurse for my dept.

I've never been exposed to the distinction other than the type of ward, though that is only MY experience, someone else may have better information.

Good luck to you.
