Tyler area - Trinity Mother Frances Hospital

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Looking for anyone who has worked at Trinity Mother Frances hospital and how they liked it - or not. Thanks

(((shudder)))) at the thought of living in Tyler, but Mother Frances is a good place to work from what I know. My mom retired from there after about 40 years (non-nursing) and they were always pretty good to her.

Do you currently live in Tyler or are you moving. From what my Mom has told me, Tyler public schools are kind of iffy right now.

Yeah, I heard the schools are not the best environment right now - rather there is an unresolved "issue" of some sort. I know there seems to be alot of gang activity there also. However, I will not be living there - just in a neighboring town.

Thanks for the reply.

I dont Know about gang activiy, but the schools systems in the Bigger cities are not that different. My cousin just graduated from John Tyler. It all depends on what you are use too and how you raised your children. My Aunt is a school teacher at a private school in tyler and her daughter went to a public school. But my cousin stayed involved with sports and was not a follower. This is so irritating how everyone relates the lower funded schools districts to gang activity.

I grew up in a town near Tyler (Whitehouse to be specific). I had a nice childhood and enjoyed the good schools in Whitehouse. As I got older though, I became more aware of the deep seeded racial and class issues.

True, we have them in our bigger metro area city where I live now, but it is more diluted. Tyler is a small to medium sized town full of people with lots of NEW money (a little bit of "old" money, but not a lot) who are all too eager to show it off and boy...they don't miss an opportunity. There are still those who feel people of a certain color should "know their place." I have a relative who, as a teenager, got GROUNDED for riding in a car with someone of a different race. :angryfire

I go back now to visit my Mom and it makes me want to puke...the money, the class issues, etc. The whole Rose Festival is just a big gaudy show of money and it parades right through a part of town that people frown on for 99.9% of the year and wouldn't even go through after dark. Girls wearing 20K dresses as they wave drunkenly from their floats...gag gag gag. I won't even tell you what I really think. ;)

Going to Brookshires is a major life event and better not go without your "bling" on.

I love the anonymity of the big city now and would never go back. Too bad though because it is a beautiful place to live with the lakes and all.

I understand where you are coming from. I am a minority and I am 23. I grew in a small town outside of the gilmer area. There are racial issues everywhere. Especially in east texas. I live in the city now and I still see it. But to tell you the truth the schools with more minorities do have more fights. But the richer school district have thier problems as well especially with drugs like crystal meth.

I worked at Mother Frances for almost a year on 6-Ornelas(Ortho-Neuro). As of last summer, it was a great place to work. The pay is not that great but as a nurse you have plenty of support staff and acceptable patient loads.

SamHell - thank you for answering the original question.

I didn't mean to start a feud - just trying to respond to the comment I received back from my original question. Just for the record, I do not think gangs are necessarily of lower funded school districts or specific racial groups it was just something I heard and should not have repeated in the first place. I didn't even know Tyler was a lower funded school district. Like I said, I'm not going to live there, just work there.

I worked at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital as an RN for 16yrs. I left because of poor salary and an administration that was looking out for their own interests and not that of the patients and employees. I was making less money than a newly hired RN. I wish I had left years before. I never knew how much I was being "beaten down" by them until I left. I never knew there could be life after mother frances but there is. I wouldn't recommend anyone work there. It's okay at first but as time goes on you will find they are out for the bottom dollar and not what's best for the patients.

Who do you work for now? I have done clinicals at Medical center and absolutly hated the atmosphere there.

Interesting,

My clinicals at Medical Center were great. I liked it so much I work there now as a Tech. I guess it depends upon your individual circumstance.
