TX- Question about controlled meds prescribing?

Hi,

I'm a newly graduated NP in Texas, and I attended a conference put on by TNP back in May/June and in the conference it stated that if you would be prescribing controlled medications that you would have to be registered with the 'Texas board of pharmacy'. So I registered for their "PMP aware" program, is that the only thing we register for with them? Or is there another thing within the board of pharmacy that we register for?

You also need to get prescriptive authority delegation from a physician (as well as a collaborative agreement...often combined into one document). You also should be registered on the Texas Medical Board's website under said physician PRIOR to obtaining your DEA registration.
