I think it is time we get our own thread for those of us who have been accepted to TWU's Houston program
I have all the core reqs listed on their site for nursing: A&P 8hrs, Micro 4 hrs, Chem 4hrs, Gov't 6hrs, Lifespan 3hrs, Hx 6hrs, Nutrition 3hrs, Stats 3hrs. I have a BA in Spanish from an out of state school. So to my understanding, I'm done with all pre-reqs. The only reason I was taking Phil this semester was so I'd have it done by and if I started at UT Spring 2011. ?? Am I good? I'm nervous now. And thanks for your reply! :)
Yes, check with TWU first!! Don't drop your phil class, unless you have already taken a literature class that will transfer to TWU. You may have otherwise been accepted to the program based on the fact that you would complete the Phil/Lit requirement before the start of the TWU nursing program.
A 3hr PHIL OR LIT class is required for TWU.
(the only way to get around it is if you have completed a core curriculum at a TEXAS school)
The classes you have listed above are only the "core courses" for the nursing program.
So, whether or not a student is "core complete" at a TX school (meaning they completed a core curriculum at a TX school), they must take the classes you listed above.
However, if you are a transfer student, and have not completed a core curriculum at another TX school you must complete all the courses listed under "Required Courses" on the twu website...as well as the "core courses" you listed. (some of the courses overlap and are on both lists)
(I just looked at the twu website and the terminology they use... "core" and "required" seems mixed up and confusing...but I hope I cleared it up a bit)
So this is totally off subject but all college students can get free 2nd day shipping from amazon. It could really be useful for textbooks or Christmas presents. I've been using it for about 3 months now. All you need is a .edu email address. Just google Amazon Student.
I really hope this doesn't count as promoting or advertising, because i don't work for Amazon. I just wanted to pass this savings along to other students.

Thanks MKAT11. I did call and Ms. Philip said that if I had a lit class already then Phil was not required. Now, since it's the 11th hour and I haven't heard from them that they won't accept my classes, Ima assume I'm good. I have dropped Phil. BTW Are you the one who is currently at TWU for nursing?

Glad to help! I didn't want you to make a terrible mistake!! (and I sure wouldn't want to take phil if I didn't have to)
...Nope, I will be starting in January! I have just thoroughly searched the TWU website for my own good to make sure I had all the right courses since I have a few transcripts under my belt.
Can't wait to meet everyone!
Hello Everyone! Congratulations to all!!!How many of you are originally from the Houston area?? Currently live in the Houston area?? Anyone have to move, or have a long commute??
I'm 20-30 minutes away from campus, and was born in the Texas Medical Center!
Hi Mkatt11,

Well I also had a degree from out of state but had to take a bunch of my core classes over because they didn't transfer in. They said that I wasn't core compete because my previous school was not in Texas. They emailed me all this about a month ago. I had to quickly sign up for the Liberal Math and take Phil 1301. I'm sure that if you weren't core complete they would have said something by now. I would call and double check with the Houston office. I would rather here it from them.
